Altered plot lines and back stories

I’m looking for ideas to modify the back stories of Disney attractions without drastically changing the rides - Like what they did with Universe of Energy by adding Ellen Degeneres.

For example, when GM can’t afford test track, the story will become…
You are the play toy of a maniacal little boy who places you in one of his slot cars are races you around his bedroom.

Actually, that's pretty close to the original idea of what Test Track was going to be. The original idea was a giant slot car race. No joke. I've even seen concept art somewhere that had a giant face of a kid that would be "playing" with the slot car race.

How about this one: The Pirates of the Caribbean becomes the "Pirates of Somalia" and you're riding in a little oil tanker that they are trying to take over.

Pirates and Zombies

This thread can go bad in a hurry. The Dinosaur cars can be reworked as 70's Cadillacs with bad shocks going through any nasty downtown while trying to avoid (or better yet, shoot at) zombies.

The Dumb and Dumber Tower of Terror

You enter the hotel and find that the main elevators are broken and you have to take the freight elevator instead. On the way to the boiler room, you stop off in the library and see a video of the two guys from Dumb and Dumber, who are now the maintenance men at the hotel. They're just letting us know that they are working on getting the passenger elevator fixed, but in the meantime, we can take the freight elevator because they just got finished doing some repair work on that. Unfortunately, we discover (too late and after we've already boarded the freight elevator) that they've used bungee cables to reattached the elevator (consequently the elevator might be dropping rapidly and then bouncing back up a few times).

An Interesting Other story for ToT Was Mel Brooks Hollywood Horror Hotel...This is from Towerofterror.org..

In the fall of 1989, Mel Brooks, Michael Eisner, Marty Skylar, C. McNair Wilson and the rest of the Imagineering group met together. The meeting was the beginning of an attempt by Eisner to bring Mel Brooks over to Disney to produce his films at the then brand new Disney-MGM Studios because he knew Mel and Mel's son Max were huge Disneyland fans and a joint collaboration between Brooks and Disney would be a good starting point for working together. Mel initially had to be sold on the idea of a theme park attraction after being explained that a theme park attraction has a lasting effect of being in place and seen every day of the week by about 20,000 people for anywhere from 10-20 years. Mel Brooks made about six trips to Imagineering and a number of telephone calls to work on the attraction. Disney Imagineers wanted to shoot for something scary and funny with Mel Brooks and at one point in the early development with Mel Brooks, what later became the Tower of Terror started out as "Castle Young Frankenstein" which would have featured a Bavarian village with winding streets to the castle with a drawbridge. The queue line would be towards the back of the "village" with a kind of indoor line that had the feel of Pirates of the Caribbean in the Magic Kingdom. The idea later changed to "Mel Brooks' Hollywood Horror Hotel".

Wow, I never knew that story! That's interesting.

I have to admit that although I'm a Mel Brooks fan, I'm an even bigger Twilight Zone fan (It's my all time favorite show), so I'm glad that's the theme they went with.

Wow, for reals? That doesnt sound like it was meant for Epcot than. More like the MK or mgm or something. Either way, you know where to find said concept art??

While you're in the elevator shaft for ToT, instead of Twilight Zone music they play Kenny G.

The absolute worst: The Rockin' Polka coaster featuring Weird Al Yankovic
