Dear community,
Does somebody know good spots near Disney where you can see wildlife gators? We'd love to see some while having a break between Park days, and the Everglades are too far away

You could go out to the Orlando Wetlands Park out near Christmas. You’ll drive right past Fort Christmas Park if you’re interested in a little bit of area history. You also would not be far from the Space Center or Cocoa Beach if you have any interest in those.

Gatorland in Kissimmee . You can even eat gator nuggets in the restaurant but I highly recommend a locals place- The Catfish Place to eat gator, frog legs, turtle etc in St Cloud and Kissimmee.

Ditto on the Kennedy Space Center…when we were there 10+ years ago, we saw quite a few gators AND Bald Eagles…it’s about an hour away.

The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge borders Canaveral…making it a de facto nature sanctuary as well.

Kennedy is a great place for wildlife
Always see a few on the ride in and out and on the bus ride. Merrit Island also a good spot to spot gators and birds. On property we've seen several over the years in the larger bodies of water

There are several crocodiles living in Florida. Just heard a news story about them. Evidently they are thriving by the nuclear cooling canels near Naples.
We do have some crocs here! You don’t see them too much, and they’re mostly in Southern Florida and the Florida Keys.

Interesting thing with them is they can tolerate salt water, while their alligator friends cannot.

Yes, the American crocodile is also native to Florida. South Florida is unique in being home to both an alligator and a crocodile species.

Turkey Point Power Plant has a significant population of American crocodiles but it is south of Miami near Homestead, not Naples.

Celebration is the closest and easiest place to spot them at. Behind the Celebration sign on World Drive, there's a pond/nature trail that typically has a few gators on the grass relaxing. Just park at the relatively new Publix shopping center and cross the road.

That’s an accident or death waiting to happen in all seriousness.

yeah you really have to roll a 1 a few times in a row to get a gator to kill you if you're not a baby or a dog, like, pass out in a body of water
major thing is to not run away, they're wired that "if this thing is running from me, I must be able to eat it, otherwise it wouldn't run"

iirc basically any random body of water on the south side of 192 will have some gators if you take a few minutes to look for them, but it's been a while since I've been down there
