Do not pet the alligators.

Sadly, some people have to told that!

Anyway,we have not seen any alligators. But we did have guests outside in the body of water under our balcony at OKW. Otters! They are so cool. We got some good pictures including one of one of the otters eating a fish! We asked a boat driver about them. He said he thought they had been taken away and ummmm....taken care of you could say.:lookaroun This was because they attacked a duck and ate it at the boat docks at OKW in front of guests.:dazzle:.

I've seen them in the lake at Coronado Springs, my daughter was always scared to walk to our room b/c the path took us next to the lake.

Another reason Wilderness Lodge is great. Driving up to the massive Jurassic Park gate and seeing that bear crossing sign and deer walking about.

:sohappy:
Yep...:D Was pretty cool.
Take a night time walk through Ft Wilderness and you will see a ton especially if you do it with the flash light off.

We drove through and saw a whole heard even with the lights on. Was quite cute!

I grew up in Florida and spent all but the last 3 years of my 38 years there.

It is very hard to keep Gators out of anything.
Boy ain't that the truth. We use to have them walking across our back yard. I remember back in the 70s on the Marshmallow Marsh, the CMs use to point the gators out.... The only thing you have to remember is, don't pet the alligators.

Should I be worried? This is a little too close for comfort for me.

Not at all. I have seen a gator only once on Disney property. They generally avoid contact with humans. I have seen them in my back yard and have yet to experience any aggressive contact. Gators will not be an issue at all for you.

During my August 2008 visit (in fact last year this week in fact!), I spotted an aligator / croc wading in one of the ponds at Shades of Green near the Magnolia golf course club house parking lot.

I've seen them in the retention ponds on World's Drive, possibly one in the lake by the Beach Club parking lot. I've seen geckos all over the slide area at the Beach Club as well. I saw a foot long dead fish wash up on the beach in the Grand Floridian, cats at the Poly, but other than that not many other exciting animal adventures.

The lake on the EPCOT Monorail line is called Lake Bambi (I believe), so I wouldn't be surprised if it was named after all of the deer there.

I saw one in the pond (not the "lake") while walking from The Boardwalk to Epcot. But, I doubt that the average guest would have spotted it - since we spend a lot of time on (and sometimes, in) fresh water, I can recognize them by snout/eyes alone.

I also saw one at the beach once, as it must have gotten confused and crossed the road from the swamp in the wrong direction. The poor thing had to be rescued by fish 7 game, as it was afraid of the people who would come over to watch it every time it came on shore.
