The coaster hasn't even gone through it's loops yet. They are testing the linear induction motors. Wait until this thing is looping, spinning and flying over the escalators.

Besides stage shows are dead. Just ask Disney.

Considering that it only replaced Animal Actors (which I did have some nostalgia for), the Special Effects stage and un utilized hillside there is not much to be upset about. They added a really cool terrain coaster and utilized that space in probably the best way possible. I’m not excited about it personally but another coaster/ non simulator attraction will be good for the park. Now the next (brand new) attraction in a location they could actually put a decent sized show building absolutely needs to be something on the level of Hagrids, Monsters Unchained etc.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought it was in reference to Mario Kart still, my mistake!

No, I'm in the camp that the F&F coaster will actually be pretty thrilling. I've always dreamed of a roller coaster off the side of that hill. :)

I'm guessing the people surprised that it's pretty basic didn't pay any attention to Velocicoaster.
My take: The difference is that Velicicoaster is gorgeous and enhances/enlivens both the JP area of IoA and the lagoon reveal at Port of Entry (subjective, I know) and I genuinely feel the theming/story setup in the queue makes the whole concept work. Bottom line, though; from the moment the coaster launches to the brakes at the finish, no one on board Velocicoaster is criticizing theming, picking at the story or doing anything besides screaming, gasping, laughing (or in my case, yelling “Whoa” and “Holy cr*p” a lot).

F&F in CA isn’t landscaped yet, but… I mean, anything based on a gritty urban theme that sprawls all over the place can only do so much. This was a choice they made. I hope it pays off. So far I’m not a fan of the overall look, but I’m waiting to see the finished ride.

I’m counting on this ride’s nighttime lighting to be *everything.” And I think the ride itself will be amazing and unlike any other experience in CA.

The coaster is a huge win for the park -- and a massive upgrade from what was there before. I think it could be positioned well on the hills with an interesting feel for a coaster. Uni Hollywood being all up and down those escalators/hills already makes it an interesting theme park IMO.

I'll take Castle Dracula with a great show inside packing people in 3 - 6 times a day vs an ugly coaster of metal supports and minimal theme. Especially given how we have lost the Wild West show and the Special Effects Show in the lower lot and looking to lose Water World.

Wow the While West show. What a blast from the past. Where was it located? I don’t think we ever watched big remember seeing it on the park maps when I was a kid.

EDIT: just looked it up, Universal Plaza / Starbucks huh ?

The coaster has the potential of greatly boosting park attendance in a way no show could, but great shows are needed as well. With or without theming (with theming greatly preferred), these coasters add a ton of liveliness and kinetics to the atmosphere of the Studios parks, even for non-riders. I already miss RRR’s presence in Orlando (even though I never actually rode it) and can’t wait for its replacement. Personally, I’m ok with one big insane steel all-over-the-place coaster per park as part of Universal’s style. I’m still not sold on the look of FFHD in particular, but I can see it bringing in thrillseekers from around the globe. I’m hoping Universal will follow up this whopper of a change with a period of rounding things out with a variety of shows and themed experiences over the next several years.

F&F is not gorgeous to look at like VelociCoaster and Stardust Racers are, but honestly I think this park is such dire need for something like it that at this point, it's just something to be accepted for what it is. USH is not really in a state to be picky at the moment. I hope one day it gets to a point where they can be a little pickier, but this park still has a lot (a lot) of climbing to do first.

They could have enclosed more portions. Or themed it to something they could theme the coaster to an idea that is more aesthetically pleasing like Taron or F.L.Y..

Fast and the Furious is a fun idea for a racing coaster. 10 years ago when the franchise was something people cared about. But this isn't 10 years ago. And its not even a racing coaster. And the space they put it into doesn't allow the space that a well executed Fast and the Furious themed coaster needs. So maybe...instead of shoving in something that doesn't work great, put something in that DOES. Especially if you are throwing that much money into it, it should make your parks better for all, not worse for those who attend and slightly improved for those who want to ride.

Theres virtually no more space for anything unless they knock down a soundstage or relocate the Studio Tour but USH legit needs more rides with a repeatability factor. While F&F is a step in the right direction, the execution is frankly a little sad in terms of being aesthetically pleasing.
