Im hoping they kinda re use the exterior and ambience for the rumored Zelda based land
Zelda is my favorite Nintendo franchise and I don't think I'd like a LoZ land at all. Kirby and Pikmin would make more sense, as would a Pokemon land (though that would be much harder with how the rights to Pokemon work).

Not yet. Although I love the FL area I’m currently living in, there are no movie theaters close by, and the nearest *good* ones are an hour away at Citywalk and Disney Springs. So it might be a week or two before I can get there. I’m looking forward to it very, very much. Already bought the soundtrack!

While trying to avoid too many spoilers, I think I’ve pieced together from reactions and reviews I trust (including your observations) what to expect going in: A fun, entertaining romp through the Mario universe with a thin plot (I mean… what did critics expect—- it’s Mario :D), and tons of Easter eggs and references to the games.

I’m a huge fan of the Mario games. I’m on my third play-through of Odyssey (and I’ve replayed its final battle/escape sequence dozens of times just for the sheer joy and insane creativity of it) and still play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Smash Ultimate on a weekly basis. I cannot imagine, from what I’ve seen from the trailers (and many viewings of Jack Black’s Bowser singing “Peaches”) any way I could not have a good time with this movie. :D I cannot wait!

I think you’re going to love it! Soundtrack was great! My wife and I were laughing out loud during the “Peaches” scene but he also has a few great one liners.

If anything good came from the pandemic was the rekindling of my love for Nintendo. I bought my son (and I) a Switch in 2021 due to the sheer boredom of the times. Until then I hadn’t played video games since the late 90s with N64. Odyssey was fantastic. Are you talking about that part where you play as Bowser? Loved everything about that game except the bunny bad guys.

Yes, I do mean that wonderful sequence where you take control of Bowser, save everyone, and then get rewarded with the best and funniest ending to a Mario game ever. 😃

Odyssey is such a wonderful game… but I agree about the rabbit baddies; their design was off-putting (but I loved their role as “Evil Wedding Planners” 😄).

It’s great to see Nintendo on such a successful roll right now; they deserve it. They’re one of the very few companies left that have managed to retain their identity: making the BEST family friendly games while also, somehow, embracing the surreal, surprising and bizarre ideas their game designers come up with (if you haven’t tried ARMS yet, I highly recommend it—it’s what happens when the Mario Kart team comes up with a fighting game 😃).

In a world of Slugworths and Ficklegrubers, Nintendo is Wonka. I hope they never lose that.

While I don’t want an entire Hyrule land (because… which version?), I think a big Zelda dark ride could be fantastic (supported by a shop and tavern).

I think Kirby’s World is aesthetically too similar to Mario and Pikmin is still too niche, though Kirby and Dedede meet n’ greets would be perfect. My choice for the next land would be Animal Crossing or a Smash-Bros. themed crossover town.

Super Nintendo Attractions I want to see:

Zelda dark ride
Luigi’s Mansion dark ride
The Roost coffee bar (Animal Crossing)
Dodo Airlines spinner (Animal Crossing)
Tom Nook’s River Tours (Animal Crossing flume where Nook tries to sell you real estate through the entire experience)
Peppy’s Stunt Flyer (Starfox)
Smash ride (chaotic indoor drop tower)
Metroid coaster
Rhythm Heaven karaoke cafe
F-Zero coaster

No Splatoon ride, but they can have a t-shirt shop. 😃

I second a Luigi’s Mansion dark ride. It would be a great addition to the park and could be fun and interactive. I also think it could fill a ‘haunted mansion’ type spot for universal.

🤣
When you exit the ride, your power-up band shows you millions of points in debt. 😅😂

Seriously though, I'd love an Animal Crossing inspired mini-land. I like your ideas of the Roost coffee bar (it would have to have KK playing in the corner, right?) and a DoDo airlines spinner. That would be enough.

My daughter will seriously lose her d@mn mind if they build a Zelda land!

I always thought that should have been Casper but a Luigi’s Mansion ride would work too. With that said, considering the limited space at USH and assuming the park only ends up getting a DK coaster and maybe one more Nintendo ride in the future, I’m not sure I’d want Luigi’s Mansion to be that one more ride.

That would be cool if USH got rid of transformers and built a Luigis Mansion there to create a larger nintendo world... Would look great during HHH as well

Years from now, when the dust has settled on Epic Universe, and the Zelda and Pokemon lands, and I suppose after the Swamp Monster boat ride and a second Potter ride, putting a Lugi's Mansion dark ride between Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe would not only be a great thematic transition but could make an outstanding dark ride. That would be a long time though, at least a decade out I'd imagine. 😂
At the rate Uni is currently building, for all we know it may open next week. ;)

But on the Donkey Kong note, color me surprised given all the R&D costs that likely went into the system.

I get the feeling that DK may not be all that great, and given USH’s limited space, they might as well only build the best of the best. It could very well be like a Seven Dwarfs Mine Train where it’s just too short, but of course, that’s just purely speculation. Hopefully it’s a legitimate E-ticket as the ride system looks very promising!

The source of course could also be wrong.

Hoping the source is wrong but I could totally see the DK coaster not living up to expectations. I see the possibility of it being a good concept that just doesn’t end up being executed well.

I had hoped for Mine Cart Madness because the idea behind it is perhaps the cleverest I've ever heard for a roller coaster. Not to mention the rumor seemed to go hand in hand with the idea that they would take out additional soundstages, so size didn't concern me. However, whatever project Universal embraces after Fast & Furious, it had better not be anything to do with Harry Potter.

I'm curious about how others on the site feel about this, but Universal Hollywood will always be working against its constricted size and Potter is already represented well. It's probably tempting with the new series on the way and plenty of established attractions they could economically duplicate. For my part, I hope they choose something unique, rather than devote limited space to a property that already has one of the best themed lands anywhere.

I agree. Give us a classic monsters land please!
