Vaccinating children has unfortunately taken on added importance, since not enough adults are getting vaccinated, and without kids, you can say goodbye to any chance of reaching herd immunity. Honestly, I think there's zero chance of reaching it even with a % of kids getting vaccinated, but at this point, we're down to getting the #'s up any way possible.

Anyway, back to Knott's, we went in Monday, the only thing we rode was the train, as we were enjoying all of the massive amounts of entertainment the park is offering.

We also didn't wait more than 10 minutes for food at 11:30 or 5:30. We went to Great America on Saturday and waited over an hour for food at a place with a similar setup to Boardwalk BBQ and the number of people in front of us were about the same number (about 15) as at Boardwalk BBQ on Monday. And we ordered the tri tip and asked for BBQ sauce and told they didn't have any. Pushed and got told they didn't prepare it because they didn't want to prepare a full tray of BBQ sauce. I got them to do so and bring me a couple before finishing the tray. At Knott's, the BBQ sauce is at the meat AND in containers where you can get your own and the food lines substantially faster.

I did get confirmation that John Storbeck (sp) is being moved from Knott's to Great America, so maybe, just maybe he can turn them around, but right now I would not be rushing to go back there.

I went to Great America a couple weeks ago and the food and drink situation was just ridiculous. I waited over an hour both times I wanted food. I still had fun thanks to paying extra for the fastlane, but everything was generally the most inefficient I think I've ever seen at a theme park.

Don't overlook the entertainment either, you can literally spend the entire day doing nothing but entertainment and not repeat a show or go on a single ride. This is something I haven't seen other Cedar Fair parks doing either and the entertainment is very high quality as well. Don't forget Summer Nights either and there are character meet and greets as well.
Helps when they're hiring a lot of the Disneyland park entertainment cast... ;)

Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies love making a subtle reference at the fact they used to work at Disney (though they call it as "that place") and correctly knows that plenty of former DLR APers are now KBF Season Passholders (like myself) lol!
what did they use to do at Disney because weren't these guys at Knott's before the pandemic? I didn't pay admission for you to take shots at your former employer. shut up and play music for me.

Could they possibly be more nonchalant? The news made it sound like the person transported to the hospital was not involved in the incident, and might have been due to some other ailment. They leave out the part where they mention that the park was immediately evacuated.

There are videos on YouTube already, showing people running from Calico Square and Fiesta Village.

I was watching Steve & Kai doing a livestream at Downtown Disney, and about 8:50, someone posted in the chat about a shooting outside Knott's. Turned on Channel 9, and they were covering.

Seeing several videos, it appears much lighter at the time of shooting. Perhaps between 8:15 & 8:30. Seemed like some genuine panic by many. I'm wondering whether it was caused by word of mouth that there was a shooter, or if people could hear gunshots in different parts of he park. That seems unlikely, but thankfully I've never been around an active shooter situation, so I have nothing to go by. I just imagine it's hard to hear over the sounds in the park, unless you are in the area it actually happened.

Someone on YouTube commented that there was an argument between 2 men outside the park, and one of them shot the other, and then drove away. Perhaps we'll learn more by the morning. I wonder if the park will open by 9:30, like it has been on Saturdays. Or could it get delayed, or have a section of park closed off if there's still an investigation going on.

This is what happens when you sell pass super cheap to everyone. Gang violence. Same crime element used to be at Magic Mountain until they cleaned it up. Knott's needs better security for all those people they let in.

The area around Knott's has been going to crap also. I remember back in 2019, they let homeless people hang out on the walkways back to the main parking lot. I know homelessness is a real problem, and I don't want to make it sound like I am saying homeless people are bad or anything, but Knott's seems pretty lax on security when they have homeless people hanging out in the parking lot. I also recall hearing that Knott's has the most car break ins of all the SoCal parks a few years back.

im not saying homeless are "bad" either but most of them are not what I would consider "good" either. Most of them a drug addict losers who steal and rob anything they can to get high. Im a very empathetic person but its gotten so out of control in LA that im starting to have less and less empathy towards them. I was eating at dennys this morning with my gf and we were watching 2 homeless losers shoot up heroin on the sidewalk right in front of our window while we ate, its just getting too out of control...
