All There Is To Eat At WDW Are Burgers and Fries!!

Sometimes, I just cringe when I hear people talk about their trips to WDW.

Had to listen to someone complain that there was "nothing to eat" at WDW for 6 days besides burgers and fries. Oh, they went to all 4 parks and stayed on property, but for whatever reason, decided the only decent place to eat was at their hotel.

Her: "Even in the parks, all we could find are burgers and fries."

Me: "What about all the restaurants at MK?"

Her: "There weren't any good ones." All we saw were walk up places and crowded burgers and fries walk up counters.

Me: "What about all the restaurants at EPCOT or even all the buffets at MK?"

Her: "We never found a buffet. Oh, those EPCOT places just had snacks and alcohol and since we don't drink, nothing really for us to eat."

Me: "Well most of the hotels had restaurants. Chef Mickey's is a nice buffet."

Her: "You can't even get to another hotel without a cab!"

She just went to walk up places at MK a couple time and gave up. Then they just decided to go with the convenience of their resort and give up on looking for food. They made no attempt at ADRs and totally ignored every single sit down option.

Her biggest complaint was her mom was a vegetarian and there were "no vegetarian options since there were just burgers."

It amazes me what wrong impressions people have after spending thousands to go on a Disney trip and do it completely wrong. There is not necessarily a right and a wrong way, but missing out on all the good food out of ignorance is just wrong.

Me: "What about all the restaurants at EPOCT?"

I gave up and just nodded my head.
I just ignore people like her

People like that woman are strange to me. Why even spend money to come to the park? They seem like their heart is not even in it. I just talked to a co-worker who took her kids down to WDW and was at the parks for 3 days. She spent a total of 8 hours there TOTAL. I asked her why so little time at the parks. She told me she rather go to the condo (off-site) to swim?!?!? Why travel from Michigan allllll the way down to WDW and ride 5 rides and no fireworks/characters to go swimming. Why not just go to an indoor waterpark we have here? Crazy:)

This happened recently with a co-worker. She asked me for WDW tips before her 1st trip. I provided a list; restaurants, suggested reservations, strategies, etc.

When she came back she said that they had a horrible time. Long waits, nothing to do.... (huh?)

Since I'm always raving about the good restaurants. When she returned, she specifically mentioned the food was terrible. When I asked where did she eat - it was only counter services. (Which as you know, even with research, you can find some delicious counter option....)

Ah well...

Why travel ANYWHERE without doing research?! Would you book a trip to another city in the US or to the Bahamas or Italy or Spain without knowing anything about the resort or town where you are staying? Maybe these people would. I certainly would not. A little knowledge goes a long way.

I've only been on the deluxe dining plan and only ate at the table service restaurants. Next month we don't have the dining plan and I am so looking forward to the counter service. I think there are so much variety. To be honest it's just a matter of do you want to eat off a real plate or a paper plate? Lol

Poor planning + laziness = disgruntled complainers.

When we went during my pregnancy, I was able to continue to do "clean eating." We ate super healthy, high protein and found many non-meat options when I wanted them. Menus are all on-line.

It's like anything, it's what you make of it.

That woman is bananas.

Agree. I don't go commando when i am there, but i usually have everything planned out well in advance. I plan to book in november for a may 2016 trip, but i research information every day. It might sound like i am going over board, but part of the experience is the planning itself. It allows me to relax knowing where i am eating and that my fast pass is secured to certain attractions. With the money being spent on this type of vacation; i would feel like i cheated myself and family if we weren't able to enjoy as much as possible while we are there; which includes the resort itself (hopper pass).

Most of the time I've found that these "only burger & fries" people are the ones who dont want to spend a dime more on their trip than they have to and will never venture into the "expensive" restaurants. When ordering at the walk up counters they automatically order the burger & fries combos and dont even consider another choice.
It really come down to the fact that these disappointed guests dont bother to take advice, plan efficiently, take a chance to explore , save properly, or do anything right. Theyd rather complain about Disney than take the blame themselves for being ill prepared.

I know a girl who says that Disney food makes her sick so when she goes (for her daughter's dance competitions) she only eats granola bars, oatmeal, etc that she brings herself. I just wonder to myself how much variety she has eaten that has made her sick. Maybe the burger doesn't agree with her since "that's all there is to eat in Disney".
I was just baffled! So salads, sandwiches, soup? All that makes you sick?

I just went to WDW with some first-timers. During all the trip planning, we discussed restaurants with them, showed them pictures, etc. But even on the plane there, they were saying dismissive things like "let's get a nice meal in the airport since we're eating "Disney food" after today." The first day we were there, we went to Biergarten, and they all apologized, saying "we didn't believe you! this place is terrific! We thought it was just kiddie food and burgers!" Yeah, told you so! :)

Or one could ask... why is Disney punishing people who don't plan 6m ahead or don't want a sit down meal? Instead of being dismissive, did you look at her compliant if you just look at QSRs and what's available for someone looking for an adhoc meal?

In MK, we have Pecos Bills, Cosmic Rays, and Harbor house (which isn't the most visible location..).

The table meals at WDW can very much be a huge part of the trip.. but not everyone wants to visit that way, and the biggest QSRs in the parks are all pretty much the same. At DLR, they tried to buck that trend over the last 5+ years and by contrast with WDW have lots of different types of QSR options in DCA and NOS.
