All Star Suites "not ready"

I agree with mousemerf, Fort Wilderness isn't the greatest place to get upgraded to especially when Disney has such high standards for some of its hotels.

So Does Anyone Even Know What These Rooms Look Like I'm Curious

Go to www.AllEarsNet.com and click on accomodations. Then on the left side of the screen, you will see a list of all the Disney hotels. Find AllStar Music and click on the photographs (text link).

OOPS! It's not there.....let me find it and I'll post the link. I KNOW I saw pictures somewhere....I'm pretty sure it was on www.allearsnet.com.

Found the pics!!!!! here they are!!

Our hotel team was offered Saratoga Springs today.

Weren't they randomly upgrading people to Saratoga Springs a few weeks ago from All Stars? You would think they would continue the trend with this fumble.
These are the perfect people to try and sell DVC too.

Look at the lovely 2 bedroom suite with the full kitchen and the washer and the dryer. :)

Have Fun!

The fort wilderness cabins are considered to be way more desirable than any room at a value resort!!

After staying at the All Stars in February with our one daughter, and seeing the pictures of the new All Star Family Suites, the Ft. Wilderness Cabins are a DEFINTE upgrade! We stayed there with all 3 of children in the past as well as friends who had their 4 children in the cabin next to ours. We all loved it! You have the deck and grill outside. The kitchen is so convenient and you actually have a table and chairs.

The regular All Stars rooms are far too cramped for 3 people, and the suites don't look much better. I would take a Ft. Wilderness Cabin any day over a suite at All-Stars.

All-Stars is a VALUE resort. You chose it to save money. What do you people expect? Being upgraded to the Grand Floridian for no extra charge?

I agree. It all depends upon who you ask. I would really prefer the Fort Wilderness Cabins rather than Saratoga Springs. Last time I was at Saratoga Springs, it was a mess and the bus service was terrible. It may get better with time.

We've stayed at the Fort Wilderness Cabins on several occasions and always had a great time there! The transportation system is among the best on property. The recreational activities are great too.

Fort Wilnderness Cabins are more deluxe IMO than the Saratoga Springs.

Sounds like Disney really mismanaged this.

When I arrive at WDW after a day of traveling, I just want to quickly check in, drop my luggage in the room, and get to a park. I would be extremely annoyed to be told at the front desk that the room REALLY isn't ready and that either I can take two rooms instead of the suite or go across property to check in to a suite at Fort Wilderness or Saratoga Springs. Whether you consider either of those an upgrade or not, the change of resorts would take away precious time in the parks. But whoops, "We didn't know until this morning the suites weren't completed," thus we couldn't warn you before you got here.

I would be fuming. Not a great way to start a vacation.

...find it very hard to believe that they did not know the suites wouldn't be ready. I can understand a delay in construction, but they had to know ahead of time. That was so undisney-like for them not to notify her until the very last minute...

Not a big suprise. Though Disney is impecable with some things, incomplete resorts is not one issue they handle well. My family had reservations a few weeks after Coronado opened and we got dragged through all sorts of problems and delays getting checked in. Needless to say, we never plan any stays at a new resort. Construction delays happen and should be planned for as a "just in case" scenario, but they were totally clueless as if there were no contingency in place. Very poorly handled, lack of rooms, lack of CMs to handle room cleaning, lack of buses, etc.

As would I. Earlier this year I had looked into staying in a Fort Wilderness cabin. I quickly decided that I did not like the idea of hiking all over creation or taking an internal bus to get to a darn bus stop.

If I had booked one of these suites and was informed upon arrival that they werent ready I would be demanding full concierge at the Poly or some where else equally nice. I am not one to go hunting for things I am not entitled to, but in this case I would make an exception.

This situation just seems totally unexcusable to me. It is far from rocket science to tell if a room is ready far in advance of guest arrival. You walk to the room, open up the door, look around, make sure everything is there, close door, walk away. :brick: It wasnt like they had to wait for specialists to come and tell them if the rooms were complete or not.

At least when our Pop Century rooms weren't ready, they let us know a good amount of time ahead of us arriving.

but then again, they didn't open for about a year after our reservations... :lookaroun

Rooms should be ready. Delay was due to furniture not being delivered, not rooms being done. We have also gotten word that the go ahead has been given for the unfinished portion of Pop to be completed with those rooms being finished off as suites

Quick, post that info so JHM doesn't get it first!

Whoever said that those staying at Value resorts are perfect to sell on DVC... think again. Not saying that some who stay at Value resorts aren't perfect for it, but DVC doesn't really target, IMHO, those who stay at Value resorts.

It's a mixed bag. Many first-timers stay at the Values because they don't know what the real difference is, and a Disney resort is high priced from the start.

Take for example the areas around DL. I'm trying to find a hotel because disney's onsite hotels are extortionately priced (they really are) and the best i can find in surrounding areas are "high end" resorts with comparable prices to the Values. They seem snazzy, but i know they're sorta cold and void o the charm and layered design that Disney resorts have. Big cold monoliths like the ones we don't want built visible from Epcot.

So, in a way, they are a good place to find people having their first Disney World experience, some of whom have deeper pockets.

The option of two standard All-Star rooms in exchange for the family suite is also not an upgrade.

Two All-Star rooms is cheeper than one family suite.

I booked our family trip for September at the new family suites. Once the "free dining" plan became available (which is not offered with any "suite"), I changed our reservation to two All-Star rooms. The total price for the rooms alone was less.
