All Star Sports Review

Considering this is the value resort for Disney - I expected exactly what I got. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a coffee maker - I thought that was standard in all hotel rooms?

Anyway, the resort itself is beautifully maintained. The front desk staff and all the staff at the resort were excellent and made my stay that much more worthwhile. One complaint about the foodcourt, there are no choices what so ever besides the typical burger, hot dog and pizza (the day I did get it - it was terrible). Also, they do not give a lot of fries with entree dishes, just about as much they will fit in the tray after they have placed the entree.

The room was perfect. Again, for what we paid, I expected no more (except a coffee pot). Housekeeping was great - no complaints. The walls are thin and you can hear every toilet flush - but not a concern of mines.

My only problem occurred the night before we checked out. A cheerleading competition was taking place the weekend we were leaving and the people who were participating arrived the day before we left. That night, about 20 competitors were in the courtyard cheering, screaming, drinking - this lasted for a period of time until I called the front desk and complained. Security immediately removed them.

Overall, excellent time on Disney property as always!!!

No WDW value resort has a coffee pot. This is one of the main differneces from a Value and a Moderate. The Mods have a coffe pot, two sinks, and a curtain for the vanity area. Other than the coffe situation(which I dont drink anyway) the Values are truely a great vacation value.

I believe Corando Springs only has one sink. :animwink:

Anyway, I love Sports too. After staying in all the Value Resorts, I can say that, in my opinion, it is the best Value Resort on property (yes, better than Pop). I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

Odd. I checked the menu on AllEars (I looked here on WDWMagic first, but it doesn't have the food courts' menus).
In addition to the menu items you mentioned, it had:

The Specialty Shop until 10PM
Baked Chicken Platter (Dinner Only)
Roast Turkey Platter (Dinner Only)
Grilled Salmon Salad (Dinner Only)
Chicken Quesadila
Turkey and Muenster on Focaccia
Ham and Salami on Ciabatta

The Pizza Shop until Midnight
Chicken Penne Alfredo
Pasta with Meatballs
Chicken Caesar Salad
Hot Italian Sandwich

(And as a side note from my experience at Pop Century, if you get the Chicken Penne, ask for the marinara sauce rather than the alfredo... The alfredo sauce was pretty blech...)

All-Star Sports was the first Disney resort I ever stayed at. I had no problems with it and enjoyed it for what it was. A clean place to sleep, shower and grab a quick bite enroute to the parks or at night when I got back.

The next two years I upgraded to POFQ, I love that place, but in reality all I did there was sleep, shower and get something to eat.

This December I am staying at POP for the first time, but instead of using Disney transportation I will be renting a car...That still came out to costing less than POFQ

2 thumbs up for renting a car. I like disney transportation however, I love the convience of having my own car while on vacation. Also, I like driving to the parks!!

I'm so glad to see this discussion!!! My family & I will be staying at Sports beginning May 9. We had stayed at Movies before and we liked it (except for the buses!) But since Sports is first to pick up, we wanted to try it. Glad to see others like Sports!

When I went a few weeks back and stayed at All Star Sports, we enjoyed our stayed. The cast members were very helpful.

The food court had many choices. The Chicken Penne Alfredo could feed 2 people! Pretty tasty too.

We didn't have a problem with the transportation either.

Just booked Sports for the end of the month today on an absolutely incredible deal. Can't wait to stay there! First on the bus line, somewhat recent renovations and an adequate food court? What more could you ask for in a place that you just sleep and shower in? :D

I stayed there for 10 days in May, and it was wonderful. I was in the Football building, so I was just a short walk to the main building and bus stop.

Being the football fanatic that I am (2 time reigning FF champ :king: ), perhaps that building will have to be requested! Where are you staying this month, Michael? :D

The onsite room was a surprise yesterday from my friend in Florida! It put a perma-grin on my face that I still can't seem to shake. What better way to spend a birthday?

The football building also has penants from each college around the top. Granted, they are generic, but the colors and names seem to match. Somehow I ended up in a room below a purple and gold "Tigers" penant...fate?

I'm staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.

The only downside was bus service, but bus service in general frustrates me. Going anywhere was like a 30 (at least) ordeal. I think I got too used to driving everywhere quickly and parking in cast parking when I was a CP. I'm spoiled.

I've told my parents that we will be driving instead of taking the bus most of the time.

the only issue I had with the All Star Sports was that I was in the football section and every morning I woke up to people screaming and playing on the little field.

I understand its Disney and you wake up early but some of us tend to drink while on vacation and do not like hearing nonstop screaming starting at 7am.

But it was great...esp the price

No offense but I can see happening at any of the value resorts, hence they are more family oriented. If I was you, I would not consider staying at a value resort in the future and see how it plays out. Chances of this happining IMO, are a lot less if at all.
