All Star Movies VS. Pop - which one?

Hubby and I are about to book a trip for our July anniversary. We will be with our boys (ages 3 & 6). We always stay at All Star Movies. Due to a travel agent screw up, we ended up at All Star Sports this last trip. This 'break' from the All Star Movies has made us think about trying someplace new, specifically Pop Century. We LOVE All Star Movies. The question is whether we will like Pop. We drive to the parks, so the transportation issue is irrelevant. Is there anything that can be shared about the positivies and negatives regarding Pop?

Also, we wanted to save $$$ and not book a preferred room at Pop (we never book preferred rooms because All Star resorts arent huge). Should we book a preferred room at Pop, or are the farthest rooms unmanageable to walk to the food court. (We always stay at Mighty Ducks building at ASMo and have no issue with the walk to the food court. Is Pop a lot bigger??). I am also a little scared about getting a room facing the lake and the unfinished portion of the resort. Seems depressing to me. But I also don't want a preferred room right in front of the pool (and noise). Maybe I should just wing it? (I am not a very picky person and always adapt well. I just over analyze before the facts.)

Pop is about the same size as All Stars, but I felt All Stars was much more spead out. At Pop I felt as though everything was close by. We also liked the food court better at Pop. Lastly no matter what building you are in there is a pool close by. We just booked our 2nd Pop trip this morning and absolutely did not dish out the extra money for a prefered room.

just like the post above said, all-star is more spread out. Pop's food court has more seats in it then all-star does so it's easier to eat in the peak times. I feel pop is also cleaner and just nicer(newer) than all- star also. i stayed at all-star movies last year and i was missing pop. I also like how what ever building you are in, you can reach a pool in about 3 minutes walking.

We loved our stay at Movies, but Pop is great. We didn't pay for a preferred room and the walk to the food court was not bad at all.

Everyone's right the food court is great!

I will always go with Pop over Movies. Movies has a horrible layout when compared to the other Values.

Now, my favorite resort of the values is Sports. I think the layout is better than even Pop. From my experience of staying at all the values, I rank Sports #1, Pop is #2, Music is #3, and Movies is a very far behind fourth.

Totally, Pop is by far my favorite. It's just so bright and fun. Don't pay for a preferred room, the main building isn't that far from any of the rooms. Plus the bus service is fantastic, the food court is amazing, and they have icees that can go in your refillable mugs. Can't go wrong!

I've stayed at the AsMo's several times, and while I enjoyed it, I hated having to share the buses with Music and Sports.... We are staying at POP for the first time this Sept and I am very much looking forward to it!! I too did not want to fork over the extra dough for a preferred room either. So per some kinds members here, they recommended that I book a room in the 70's or 50's buildings as they are the closest to the main hall and are not preferred rooms. Enjoy your trip!

Definitely Pop. It's newer, so it's a bit nicer, the food court can't be beat, no building is more than a 3 minute walk to the bus stop/ food court, and their check-in efficiency can't be beat.
