So I have stayed at this resort a number of times, but have always had a standard room because it was cheaper, and this time all that was available when I booked the trip was a preferred room which cost more. What is the difference between the two does one have like a view or something? just curious...

It is all due to location from the main building. The Dalmations, Toy Story and Fantasia Buildings are Preferred now, no matter where you are within the building or the view you have.

I believe the buildings closer to the main building are preferred because you don't have to walk as far to get to the busses and the cafeteria.

You are also closer to a pool. Basically, the preferred rooms make sure you are closer to everything at the resort instead of being stuck in the boondocks.

Yeah and parts of Dalmation are right next to Mighty Ducks. We won't pay pref. room anymore if we go back to the values. Instead we'd opt for MD being close to pool and laundry..and the buses/ food court at Music!
