All-Star Movies Or Caribbean?

We are going to Disney in May for 10days group of 8 (3 adults 5 kids) heres the question...we have been given a rate of $750 for the 10 days per room(so $1500 total) for All-Star Movies, but now my sister called Sunday and reserved two rooms at Caribbean using a new code and got us rooms for $1,078.00 TOTAL yep for the two rooms so we each would pay a bit over $500 for the 10 days. I called twice because I thought it was a mistake but it wasn't. But they said they couldn't get us a cheaper rate at the Movies which is where the younger kids really wanted to stay. So which one is better? How are the buses at CB? we have stayed at Movies and Sports so we are familiar with the all star layout. But my husband is worried about some big downside since the rate is so low for prime time...May 25-June 3rd! we wont be spending alot of time in the rooms themselves so room size and views are not important to us. thanks so much.

That's a tough call, as the Caribbean's food situation is different than the All Stars, so would the savings be lost. Also the All Stars have the best bus transportation of any resorts. We have also booked at the All Stars for the beginning of May. What was the code you used for the Caribbean, we may switch?

Over the period of 10 days, you could easily spend more than $250 extra for a family at the CBR. The drink mugs are cheaper at ASR's and the food is definitely cheaper. The rooms at CBR are bigger and nicer but the atmosphere is better for kids at ASR's. Parking at CBR is okay. I would stay at the ASR's for the kids. If you ever go with older kids or just adults, stay at one of the nicer resorts.

It is my understanding that the rooms at the All-Stars are smaller, though, and that may make a difference if you have more than a couple people. You might want to check on that. I would stay at the Caribbean Beach resort over the All-Stars personally because it is an upgrade in terms of accommodations. And, hate to say it, but the lack of a hot tub at the All-Stars permanently crossed them off my list! LOL...

Hi,
I think getting that rate for the Carribean Beach is great BUT...I would still stay at the All Stars. The pools are wonderfully themed with Disney characters, and after all, that is the part the kids seem to remember the most. I have reservations at Movies for the beginning of May, and I will not switch them, even though it seems I might save a few $$$ at CB. The above posts are correct. The food at CB and the mugs are more expensive. There may be the temptation to eat at a restaurant which will also cost you more. And, (and this would be the biggie with me) The bus transport at All Stars is the best. You will have less waiting time, less stress and more park time. Also, since there aren't many more amenities you won't be tempted to "waste" your days at the resort instead of being in the parks, which is what the kids care about. Actually, that really would be the deciding factor. Are you going to spend much time at the resort anyway? Will your days be filled mostly with the parks? What kind of vacation do you want? I have always felt that for us, since we are all about the parks, staying at anything other than All Stars would be dumb. Well, maybe the monorail hotels would be better, but we can't afford them yet. The All Star rooms are fine for us. They are about the size of your regular Ramada Inn, which is fine. We don't need a lot of frills. You can't take the kids in the hot tub anyways.

I have stayed at both and for the money, i love the All-Star movies the best. The food at ASM is alot better and less expensive. Plus, depending on where your room is, it takes a long time to walk to the food courts at the CBR. Also, like someone else said, the bus situation is better at the All Stars (more of them). There is not that much difference in the rooms, and anyway, who spends that much time in their rooms.

I have stayed at the all star movies, music, carribean, cornonado, and tomorrow we leave to go stay at AKL, I would choose all stars over carribean, the bus system at carribean was not good, plus the atmosphere at asm was great, my girls loved it. When we were at the carribean a few years ago, we even tried to switch back in to the asm, (at our loss), but it was booked full. Enjoy which ever one you choose.....

Caribbean all the way!

I can't stand the All-Stars!

They're cramped and full of kids...no offense!

If theres not that much of a price difference, I would ABSOLUTLEY go with the Caribbean! ;)

I would go to Caribbean because the resort seems nicer, the rooms are bigger, and the location is very central. If you have a car then you are in a very good location.

CB all the way. The kids get enough at the parks, get a resort with some things for the adults. The kids will love it anyway. Personaly I would see if you could get the great price at DL (now know as POR)

I have never stayed at any AS and have always avoided them, so I can't say for sure. Some people seem to love them. But I say if you already have been to AS try something new. The pools have just as much theming at the mod resorts, more pools and hot tubs. Good to hear that AS buses are good, but it does seem to me that they are always the farthest stop to walk to.

You can get a good rate at AS anytime. You might not get the opportunity to try CB at this price and might regret missing it later.

If money isn't a problem I would choose the Caribbean for one explicit reason: CROWDS. All-Star resorts are too crowded, that's a pity.

I would go with the CB also, just try if possible to get your room as close to the food court as possible. Last time we stayed in Trinidad & Tobago and it was a very long walk to the food court and pool, also we were last to get on and off the buses and had to stand frequently.

Well the code we used for the cheap fair for CB was a government employee code, not sure what the letters were but all we did was mention that we work for Fed. gov. and that was the rate we got but they wouldn't match it for the AllStars. So we have both rooms held now and have a bit less than two months to decide. Looks like we are leaning towards paying more for all star movies, we are familiar with the all stars, rooms are fine for us since we aren't in the rooms much. its more the atmosphere and food courts and bus options that will make our final decision. thanks for all the info from everyone! greatly appreciated!

I want to say once more, I would really try to stay at a moderate resort...the price isn't what matters really, but whatever rocks your socks!

I cant agree more!!! they put alot of groups at the All Stars but I would pick the CB because its my favorite ( tied with the Poly) and it has just as much entertainment for the kids ..in fact maybe more ..there are ducks that swim around the lake small playgrounds all along the beach plus the water slide at the main pool

Wow..this is going to be a tough decision. But then the savings of $250 to stay at the upgraded CB might just be enough to make the decision. But are the busses really that bad at CB? our group has five kids ages 2-14 so we will be depending on the busses especially the older two boys coming and going. thanks so much.
