All booked?

So I was given the opportunity to go to WDW for six or seven days either next week or the week after but was told by the Disney travel agent that the entire resort is booked. Does that actually happen this time of the year or is there some trick to getting a room? I am just amazed that all the resorts (with the exception of a few high end rooms) are booked solid. Any advice or should I just give up?

Hi Pam,

Well I can get free airfare if I arrive on the 1st and leave on the 7th. However anytime between then and the 11th would work if I could find a value room, I just may need to purchase a few extra skymiles.

I know, I know, last minute during the busy season. :o

It would not surprise me if WDW resorts are booked solid next week. Next week is spring break for many of the public schools in Florida and Touringplans.com has the parks attendance at 8 or 9 pretty much all of next week.

I am going to be there the 3rd-6th of April and I made my ressies last week. There was SLIM SLIM pickins' when I called, so I got the 'cheapest' they had, which was SSR for 688.50. I just called back a minute ago to check on cancellations and there was a Boardwalk room available, but it was a few hundred dollars more (no thank you!). Of course, it all depends on your check in/out days, but seems like it is pretty busy right now!

I knew it would be busy - I guess I'm just surprised that it is that busy. I'm a value season visitor traditionally, so I just figured that the hotels could handle the busy season guests. Oh well, I guess there is always DL.

I just got my parents a room at CBR for April 5-12 a few days ago. They called back and changed to POR (their fave). It was through Travelocity (the Canadian site, though, if that matters).

Good luck!

Your neighbor is somewhat misinformed. The economy not great right now but it could be worse, only those who purchased homes well outside of what they could afford are loosing their homes, and Disney is hurting from carrying those huge bags of money that they are raking in everyday.

of course, you're correct, I was being sarcastic (just another free service I offer). If you have a job, unemployment is 0%. 97% of mortgages ARE being paid on-time. We've llived 1 hr from WDW for almost 5 years now...crowds keep increasing to the point there is almost no "offseason" anymore...we used to walk through virtually empty parks all winter...no more!

I can confirm that availability is almost non-existent for most of April and even some of May.

My best advise is try to look for a split stay, 3 nights at one resort, 4 nights at another. That seems to be the only way I have been able to find availability for my Guests.

I called last night and there was an opening at Pop for the days I wanted (April 1-7). Can't beat that - thanks for the advice!
