I wonder if those three are shut down because they all share the same building? Something to do with the building itself? Seems odd to shut all three down at same time.

I really hope they are all back open by September, as I will be going then. But somehow I doubt it, especially if the roofing or HVAC need work. I don't know much about roofing or HVACs, but I'm sure it's no simple fix.

I’m wondering if this closure has to do with additional fireproofing for the roofing on these structures so they can utilize the flamethrowers for wondrous journeys (as a post-Murphy safety procedure).

If so I wouldn’t be surprised if the don’t also quickly wrap this up and then close Snow/Pinocchio as a second phase with the goal of getting this wrapped up by mid-July (or even the 4th) to salvage as much of the summer as they can.

It's possible, except if they're going to replace the HVAC and fix up the roofing, then the closure is going to be longer than mid-July. I hardly think this is an easy fix, especially the HVAC.

Funny, I was wondering if the work had anything to do with damage from all the intense rain.

That's possible, too. All I know is that it will probably take a long, long time, much longer than early-to-mid-July, before it will reopen again. I'm just concerned that the work will likely carry on into September, which is when I'm planning to go.

As for the HVAC rumor, I've read that it typically takes 4-8 hours to replace, but that's probably for a house. This is obviously not a house, but a building housing three rides. I would think that it would be a heck of a lot more complicated to install an HVAC into a building of this caliber. Maybe I'm mistaken, though.

I don't know, I'm just trying to keep my hopes from getting too high, especially if last year's rehab of Pirates was an indication. It lasted from March until early July.

So assuming it really is HVAC replacement....

Commerical HVAC systems, ones you find in office buildings and such, don't take longer than a week or so to install/replace. So assuming this is a standard Disney overly engineered complex system, if it really is HVAC I can't see it taking longer than a couple weeks.

Anaheim had epic rains this winter. The roofs of these rides are assaulted every night with pyrotechnic fallout, which likely degrades any roof material faster than usual. Rain plus toxic fallout isn't kind.

I'm betting three churros that this is just a need to refurbish or upgrade the roof or shared HVAC/Maintenance infrastructure of this half of the Castle complex. And then this fall the other half closes for a similar refurbishment.

Or it might not even be related to the cold and rainy winter Anaheim had, or daily pyro fallout. It might just be time to rip apart and replace the roof or the HVAC or the plumbing on this 40 year old upgrade to a 68 year old building.

Well, we don't know the reason for the closure, let alone how long it will last. All we're doing is speculating.

That could be it, though to be fair, the rides themselves have received upgrades since 1983, so I would think they would take care of the roofing, plumbing, etc., then as well, although such upgrades did happen a while ago. But again, we're only speculating. All I know is, I hope it's all finished by September, because I'm going then.

That’s very unfortunate going early July for the first time and wanted to do the ones I never got to do at WDW. Here’s hoping they have like a meet and greet or something extra to make up all these rides being closed at the same time, or preferably it’s up by then

Correct its speculation as no reports of the actual work being done is available. But what was speculated, ie HVAC work, has a real world equivalent. As such we can state if it really is just HVAC work its not going to take 3+ months.

And just like HVAC work, roof repair also isn't likely to take 3+ months.

If I was to guess I would agree with @BuzzedPotatoHead89 its very possible its to add further fire protection to the attractions in the area given recent events. And if that is the case, then its very likely to be completed fairly quickly, ie a matter of weeks.

If that's the case, they should at least give a vague, if not definitive, reopening period, say, mid-to-late summer (which admittedly ends in September, technically).
