Alcohol at the parks

I had my first opportunity the "Drink Around the World" last February. My brother in-law and I spent a cool evening doing just that. It was the most fun I ever had at the World Showcase. And no, we didn't get thrown out by security.

And in honor of El_Chupacabra, I'm cracking a refreshing Adult beverage right now....Cheers!:lookaroun :animwink:

wow thanks!

heres the thing that i would like to clarify

i dont have any problem what so ever with alcohol at your home

i just have a problem with it in public and especially at a place where there are plenty of kids around

not everyone wants to see nor sometimes smell the alcohol in public

WDW is not "public"

MK seems more focused on the family and children which is why i would expect the no-alcohol rule to stay. I dont think its so bad if one outa 4 parks dont allow alcohol.

Personally, wiskey is the only way for me, but i dont remember anywhere serving Jack+Coke at Epcot... mmm too bad, would make Soarin really fun :)

how is it not public

there are hundreds of thousands of people in the same place

yes technically it isnt because you had to pay to get in but yes it is public in my eyes because of the amount of people

regardless of your opinion....it is private land, and a corporation. It is not public (like a state or local park)

and the reason for my point of view is that human nature is to blow things out of proportion and the saying give them an inch andthey'll take a mile that is true here i think cause many people like to use things to the greatest extent they can and i just really dont see a need for alcohol in the first place it really has never done anything good for humans ever
It's obvious that you have never had anything to drink before...

(And before people flip about the assumption that 16 year olds have had alcohol... you all know it's not that uncommon.)

Not everybody who drinks gets drunk. I can say that from personal experience having been out with plenty of people in plenty of situations were we drank but never lose control of ourselves. I have personally never been drunk, but have plenty to drink in the past. Disney selling alcohol is business... and just because you don't like it (or are jealous that you can't have any... which is a possible motive as well) doesn't mean that they should stop serving alcohol. I have rarely seen a drunk person at any Disney park. Stop assuming, and I can garauntee that when you eventual experience alcohol your opinions will change.

Hey! I'll look for you there, I am going next month too - and a refreshing adult beverage in the UK sounds good to me right now...in fact, in honor of gjpjtj's recent trip around Showcase, I think I will join him in enjoying a Labatt right now!...now I know why the PARENTS of 16 year olds head to the booze in Epcot first thing...

Not everyone experiences alcohol

And I never want to.

With that said, I can see why it is sold in some of the parks, Epcot especially. And hopefully there will never be a day that it is sold in the Magic Kingdom. As much as I think it is a complete family park (as opposed to a kids park) just like the others, it is different in that respect.

"Drinking around the world" is one of the best times I have had at WDW. Start in Canada, and end up in Mexico and take the boat ride, then the cherry on top is a quick ride on Test Track.

WDW is a playground for all, and I would never want alcohol in MK, but it is great to know on a hot summer afternoon if I choose to have a beer in Epcot, MGM or AK I can.

Alright, I'll say it. I get schlitzed at Epcot. I LOVE DRINKING AT EPCOT!!!! For me the beer carts can be attractions. Am I an alcoholic? No. Do I drink all the time? No. But I love drinking around the world. To me a cool October night spent lit up going from country to country enjoying each ones refreshing beer or just Bud Light for that matter. Its fun and no one gets hurt and no one even knows I'm buzzed. Good times...good times.
