when my friend went back to Disney World during christmas she saw in the Backlot Express, and many other food places, beer and other alcohol

i can understand at say the Hollywood Brown Derby having wine or something but beer at the fast food places is ridiculous!

what do you people think

The MK still does not serve any alcohol. The other parks serve alcohol including beer at most table service and counter service restaurants. On one hand I would rather they didn't sell at all. Although on the other hand I understand the huge amount of money thay make off it. To be honest I am surprised they still don't serve alcohol at the MK.

I agree that I don't think it is necessary. Perhaps Epcot with the international offerings, but not the general beers (some even in carts). There are a few problems, though. 1. Guest demand is high, especially for international guests where alcohol doesn't have the connotation it does in America. 2. It is a HUGE profit maker, especially since very few people are drinking as they would "going out" at the parks. I personally would like to see the beer carts disappear (i.e. keep it relegated to the restaurants), but I don't mind it being around in moderation.

I don't have a problem with people having alcohol in the parks at all, though personally I only have a drink at meals or at a lounge in the evening. There is plenty of security to keep an eye on things if somebody gets out of hand (yep, I saw somebody escorted out of EPCOT who appeared to have one too many).

I like the idea that alcohol is still not served in the MK because that is the park for the kid in all of us. Just because an idea is "old fashioned" doesn't mean its a bad one.

The next thing you know there wil be AA meetings at Muppets3D :drevil:

You mean there aren't already? LOL!

Anyway, I am glad no alcohol is served in the MK. I believe they can serve it at special events (such as when MK is rented out for functions), but I maybe incorrect. Anybody know if I'm right about that?

They do serve alcohol at the MK for private events if the client requests it. Heaven knows I've been drunk at the MK before

I don't mind alcohol in the parks... (In fact the margaritas at Mexico in Epcot are wonderful ;)) But b/c it is a family place I do wish it was served only in restaurants... but at the end of the day - alcohol is a great relaxer for those that don't abuse it - and relaxing in WDW is all part of a good vacation!

I understand where the OP is coming from, but I don't have a problem at all with alcohol in the parks. Like someone else said, there's enough security around that if someone gets too out of hand something can be done about it.

now now... no eye rolling. It was a private party and I didn't drive home.

The MK is only a family park if families are in the park ;)

I very much enjoy a cocktail at the theme parks. I've never seen, and I'm there quite often, any objectional behavior (that related to alcohol consumption). I don't think you're going to see too many people running around trashed at 8 dollars a drink.

Universal on the other hand...

I've only seen a drunk acting a fool in Disney once. It was a couple of weeks ago at Epcot. The guy and his 2 buddies were really drunk and cursing and yelling. Within a minute, the 3 of them were escorted out of the park by security. As long as it stays controlled like this, I don't mind alcohol in the parks. As a matter of fact, I am planning on going in October to the food and wine festival to drink my way around the world.

No drunken brawls in Fantasyland, please

I love to drink my way around the world at Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival! We always start in Canada and top off all that International wine with a frozen Margarita in Mexico. :slurp: I have also attended Sam Adams beer school. Please don't bash me for this, but Epcot, particularly WS is more of an adult playground to me, and I think that is why they offer the most libations. While I have been tipsy during Illuminations, I can honestly say that I have never been thrown out or passed out in some shrubbery.

With that said I do agree with no alcohol being served at MK. While I do love MK, it has alot more attractions for little ones. I think all those parents that have to keep their kids occupied for 45 minutes waiting for the Pooh ride would get pretty unruly if they were all drunk. I am really glad that WDW has chosen to keep Walt's policy on that.
