If you love musicals as much as I do, then you’re going to be thrilled with today’s news.
“Toy Story – The Musical” will take over Hyperion Theatre in Disney’s California Adventure park in early 2011.
The characters and playful plot from the original Disney•Pixar film, Toy Story, will come to life before your eyes in this dazzling, musical stage spectacular where you’ll be treated to a unique “toys’ eye view” of life in Andy’s room. The stage show will feature larger-than-life set design, new songs, vivid projected backgrounds and elaborate costumes.
The 50-minute musical will preserve the humor and heart of the original film and will explore the true meaning of friendship as Buzz Lightyear and Woody transform from jealous adversaries to best friends with an unbreakable bond.
To make way for this exciting addition to Disney’s California Adventure park, “Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” will close August 15, 2010. If you’re visiting the Disneyland Resort this holiday season, don’t miss your chance to catch this great show.
“Toy Story – The Musical” is just the latest announcement of a line-up of great attractions and experiences coming to Disney’s California Adventure. To find out about all the new things coming to the park, check out DisneysCaliforniaAdventure.com.
What do you think? Are you excited about “Toy Story – The Musical?”

Yes, I think this is good for WDW fans though because when TS moves in Aladdin needs a shoulder to cry on. Let's give WDW's shoulder to them.

Extremely bad for DLRers because Toy Story: Musical is outdone by its lavish sets.... which is pretty sad.

Enclose the Beauty and the Beast Theater like they did Theater in the Wild and put Aladdin in there. Toy Story Musical was awesome when we saw it at sea.

I don't like Aladdin: The Musical at all...just awful. But I honestly am not excited for Toy Story The Musical, which just looks like an inferior Finding Nemo The Musical imitation, trying to catch lighting in a bottle twice...soooo....on the fence.

Meh. I really don't care for long musical shows so I can't say that I'm all that excited for this, but its something new I guess.

I really don't like it when they make Pixar movies into musicals.

Agreed. What is this obsession they have with it? Why not take a film, for example LIKE Aladdin, which is already a musical, and transfer it to the stage as a MUSICAL? SHOCKING!

I personally hated Finding Nemo The Musical and had half a mind to tell the nearest cast member I wanted 30 minutes of my life back paid in cash. The songs were so forced into the story that it was laughable, and then they were just annoying beyond belief. I don't care how good Toy Story was on the Disney Wonder, it will never be as good as Aladdin simply because Toy Story was never a musical to begin with.

It is not big enough, WDW does not have a theater big enough they would have to build a completely new building. SO knowing TDO that means it is not coming.

I've been hearing this a lot and I kind-of hate it. Most musicals aren't musicals to begin with. They're based off books, movies, etc. The songs speak for themselves. If they're no good, then that's a different story.
