Yup. B&B is in dire need of a replacement. It was great ten years ago but HS should be a revolving door of new ideas- especially stage shows (looking at you Indy). Besides, Aladdin is criminally underrated in WDW if you ask me. A lousy spinner. C'mon....

The actual stoyline is really just the basic Disney movie plot.. It's really the Genie that keeps the show fresh with all of his jokes.

Personally, the Genie and the improv isn't my cup of tea. Takes too much away from the storyline and IMHO was too pop culture oriented. And I'm not really sure it would be favored by most WDW guests (which is a decidedly different crowd than DLR).

That said, I'd be cool with a greater Aladdin presence in WDW. Very under-served franchise.

The genie is a great character in the film, but in the show, he's a pop culture regurgitator..

Eh.... to each their own opinions I guess. It's interesting to know that you somehow speak for most WDW guests. d:

That's exactly what he was in the movie at the time too.

Impressions:Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ed Sullivan, William F. Buckley, Peter Lorre, Robert De Niro, Rodney Dangerfield, Jack Nicholson, Arsenio Hall... It's not much different. Just a different time period. d:

Indeed. It's keeping the same spirit as the film- make the kinds of references that the audience is likely to get. An Arsenio Hall reference now is not going to get a big reaction.

Don't forget about the Rzeznik version of "Always Know Where You Are" (which sadly doesn't appear to be available in mp3 format, not legally anyway; the only version is the BBMak version from the soundtrack, which you have to buy the entire soundtrack to get!)

I hate it when iTunes does that. I wanted a song from a movie, but the film's soundtrack wasn't available on iTunes. I was able to find the song on another album, but it had to be purchased with the entire album, and it cost well over one hundred dollars.

I thought I was the only person that had that opinion. I saw the show last May and more than half of Genie's jokes were referencing Lindsay Lohan. It really took away from the rest of the show. It was just too much.

Which... isn't exactly all that different from his role in the film.

I disagree, for two main reasons:

1. In the film, the Genie is comic relief who enhances the storyline. He's not a main character. In the attraction, he's the focus of the show and it has a heavy stand up comedy vibe. It's like the plot of movie is secondary.

2. In the movie, the Genie generally does stuff like impressions and puns and sight gags for comedy. It's stuff that most people will get easily because it is part of the cultural zeitgeist (I think the aforementioned Arsenio impression is the outlier). In the attraction, he tends to make more contemporary pop culture references and jokes; if you don't watch E! or read People, it's not as accessible. I'm sorry, but I don't need to hear about the Kardasians in a Disney attraction.

1. He serves as comic relief as well. The show at Disneyland doesn't revolve around the genie at all. He's not always making jokes, there are the serious moments as well. He's in the show only for about half-way through the whole thing or less.

2. I don't read People, and what is E! ? ... I got every joke and understood everything just fine... Heck, all you really need to do to know the Genie's jokes is read the newspaper and be up to date with the world around you in the entertainment area.

3. Why do you keep referring to it as an "attraction"... It's a live stage-show. Just call it a show.. That makes more sense. d:

I'm not trying to bash other peoples opinions on the show or anything. But saying that the Genie isn't anything like the character in the movie, that's bull. What else is bull?.. Saying that the Genie is not funny throughout the show! While it may not be your kind of humor, and I'm pretty sure if you watch those videos I posted... There's a lot of belly laughs coming from that ginormous theatre. On top of that, even if it's old... It must be doing something right if it still exists because of popular demand. I went to Disneyland for the first time a couple of years ago, went to see this.. That theatre is HUGE beyond BELIEF for a 40 minute Aladdin show, and it was PACKED. The Genie is "genius" pun pun :D He is the funniest comedic relief Disney has offered in any of their live performances.

You can either like the show, or dislike it. But don't try to make up some fake excuses against the humor the Genie does hold just because you don't like the form of comedy he uses.
