Yea! Everybody knows Monstropolis is in NorCal.

Right?

They're going to have to come up with something Cars Land level awesome to impress me with this, because it's a lame idea. Seriously, just start retheming the lands and turn it into Disney Pixar Adventure. Monstropolis, Cars Land, a bug's land - finish the job.

I love Pixar and I've never met a Pixar attraction I didn't like (I take that back - MILF is pretty dumb), but there comes a point when other avenues should be explored.

I'd be very pleased if the dark rides are all overhauled - despite being well-kept up (unlike the remaining few at WDW - their Peter Pan in particular is falling apart), they could certainly benefit from new technology. The small digital projection effects added to Snow White in the past few years made a big difference - I still can't get over the apple effect at the cauldron! It defies logic I tell you!

Monstropolis makes no sense. Why is Monstropolis in Hollywood? How uninspired. Another Pixar film, one that already has a perfectly fine dark ride. Yawn.

Tron is a franchise that didn't revive. Bombed sequel, bombed animated series. Iron Man is the hottest superhero of all box-office time, and lends itself to a rad Indy-style E-Ticket. I'd much rather have that.

Tron didn't bomb. A sequel to Legacy is planned. Uprising (the animated series) is awesome, but couldn't find an audience, mostly because it was on Disney XD. Tron would be an awesome park addition.

Tron bombed. $172 mil domestic is terrible for a film that cost $170 mil to make (plus marketing expenses), plus a painful 51% score on Rotten Tomatoes. I wanted it to be great and I wanted it to succeed - neither happened.

Uprising may be the best thing since sliced bread, but no one watched it. That makes it a bomb.

If a sequel is indeed coming, that would be a truly puzzling decision based on Legacy's performance and the public's clear demonstration that Tron is not a hot property. To use Tron in the park over an Iron Man E-Ticket is nigh on senseless - one would be a nice addition, and one would have lines out the gate and onto Harbor Blvd. I wouldn't mind having both - but if it's either/or, Tron is not the logical choice.

For some reason people in the US only take into account US box office. the truth is US box office is only part of the puzzle there is also DVD on Demand etc and overseas box numbers to take into account. Tron made about $400 mil world wide so the more then doubled their money. Americans aren't the only people who watch movies.

Very true. But the studio, in this case Disney, only gets about half of the gross (the other half goes to distributors), sometimes less than half internationally. So let's say as an average, Disney got 50% of the total worldwide gross - $200 mil would not cover the budget and marketing costs. With DVD sales they may have barely eked out a profit. Disney would not have made the film for that cost if they didn't have much higher expectations for its performance.

So even if we upgrade Tron to marginal success from bomb (which I still don't think is warranted), it's $400 million worldwide gross doesn't look so hot next to Iron Man's record over four films:

Iron Man (2008) $585.2 million
Iron Man 2 (2010) $623.9 million
The Avengers (2012) $1.51 billion
Iron Man 3 (2013) $1.18 billion
The Avengers 2 (2015) God only knows the unholy amount of money this will make

From a business standpoint, it just doesn't make sense. That's my only point. The ride could be fun, but it wouldn't be the Potter Swatter that an Iron Man E-Ticket would be.

Disney doesn't need a Potter Swatter. They have a lot more visitors even with Harry Potter. I think the way to bring people in the parks is immerse areas and rides. Carsland is bringing in tons of guests - 22% more then last year. Cars in no way has the same following as Harry Potter. A Tron ride if done well with great theming and good use of technology would be very popular. An Iron Man ride would be great too. Either way it would be a great addition to DL.

I think we all know both Tron and Iron Man would be seriously popular. I also think we all know Iron Man is WAY more popular than Tron.

If given the choice between the two, I'd pick Iron Man in a heartbeat. Sadly, I don't think it's going to happen. Tron, too.
