AK Dragon on Logo Explained

I know there's already a post about this going on, but I think I should make this a seprate post, because from my understanding, the reason the dragon is still shown on the new AK logo is because of an annoucement to made sometime soon. I really don't know any other details besides the fact that Bob Igier (sp?) wants to go ahead with Beastly Kingdomme and maybe on the May 5th press conference we will hear more? If not then, then sometime around or shortly after EE is open. My info for this news comes from James Rasulo, who my father is good freinds with.

Doubtful they would announce it anytime soon. Doing so would take away from the HCOE and EE. A better date would be the day they are announcing everest's opening date.

And I think you mean JAY Rasulo.

No offense, but if your father is good friends with James Rasulo, I am sure neither your father nor his friend would want you to be spreading proprietary information on the internet.

I, for one, will take this as exciting news, even if it is only a rumor. That was my first hope when I saw it (not quite the full Beastly Kingdom but that something new and BIG land-wise was coming). I don't care if you call Jay, James, Mr. Rasulo, or Mr. Magical-Day Head. I'll just take this as a rumor and hopes of something big in the next few weeks. It's just nice to have a situation where the major excitement is about something new coming and not something beloved and cherished being removed.

one of my faculty mentors' name is James and he goes by Jay, but regardless...I have heard, too, that Iger is adamant about this and Rasulo has clearly always been in favor of expansion, but I would think it's more realistic to have clearing and ground-breaking begin shortly, but hold off on the announcement until Everest opens. They could have it open in time for AK's 10th birthday in 2008 :)

It really isnt that proprietary, it's just something that was mentioned to me by my dad, because he knew how much I liked the orginal idea of BK. I just thought I would pass along a little info about why the dragon may still be included. As I said, I don't know more then what I've said, they don't sit around and tell me all the up and coming attractions that are being planed, this was just a little something extra special I heard, and thought I would pass it on.

I could see Beastly Kingdomme being announced. But I don't see groundbreaking starting right away. What I see is another year of planning.

But remember, for a while, Beastly Kingdomme's opening date was slated for 2008. I am sure that land can be built in 3 years but this is the last year anything can really happen.

I can't wait for the day any type of Dragon ride/attraction is announced for AK. I've always had this fascination with dragons and have been excited from day 1 when I saw the AK logo.

Nothing towards anybody here, but I'm not going to get too excited yet. This BK/dragon thing has been on again, off again since practically opening day in 1998. I still have quite a bit of faith it will materialize though in some form sometime in the future. They continue to display the Dragon on all new logos of AK, including the new HCOE banners which required re-working the animals on the logo that could have easily resulted in dropping it. But its still there and the hope remains :)

Agreed, I would be happy to see a BK addition to AK as well. However, I don't think this "report" holds any water.
