AK Construction Walls

What is with the miles of construction walls all over Animal Kingdom? It felt like walking around the former Pleasure Island area of Downtown Disney the other day.

Most of them are nowhere near Avatar Land.

Not only Nighttime show and Avland, but there's a lot of work going on around Discovery Island to enhance the theming, the restaurants/shops, and to make the paths have an easier flow for the post-RoI exit rush. Also, in Africa there is another sub-land expansion taking place

There sure does seem to be a lot of work being done at AK. Didn't they expand the parking lot too? Does anyone have any inside information about new things besides Avatarland and ROL coming to AK? Like maybe those Pandas or another ride? Seems like a lot of work for just Avatar which very few people seem extremely excited to see open. I read that New Fantasyland didn't boost MK attendance much, will Avatarland Boost AKs attendance enough to need all of these new restaurants and areas? My plan is to maybe spend one to two hours more at AK after Avatarland and ROL opens, I will go to MK in the morning and then AK at night now. I use to reverse that and go to AK first. So I don't plan on spending a lot more time I AK, will other people? Only time will tell. If Guests go to AK in the morning is there enough new attractions to keep them busy all day till ROl and the glowing Avatarland begins?

I haven't seen any indication of any additional attractions beyond Avatar and Rivers of Light. The rest of the construction seems to be for supporting items -- expansion at Harambe is for more dining/shopping and an alternate pathway, on Discovery Island they are adding more dining to Pizzafari and adding a Starbucks and creating open space for live entertainment, the work near EE and Nemo is for seating for RoL.

Personally, I'd like to see them add some additional rides at this time -- maybe something in Africa near the FOTLK theater or something simple on Discovery Island or another flat ride in Dinorama. With extended hours for RoL and Pandora, they should have some stuff to fill a full day especially during inevitable periods when one of the rides goes down for refurbs.

There does seem to be a lot of work being done all over the park in anticipation of seeing a lot more guests in AK. I just don't see Avatarland and RoL bringing in thousands of more guests like Harry Potter did. Avatarland will be big enough to absorb a lot of the new guests in my opinion. So these new supporting areas I am hoping are being build because other plans are out there along with Avatarland and RoL. Here is hoping for the best
