If I read right someone mentioned this earlier saying this boat "mysteriously" showed up in the Seven Seas Lagoon

Is that what happened to all the 20k subs??? If it is, I'd like to go dive on them!!

Hey, great pics, thanks for posting them.

Yeah they look a little shorter than the Friendships.

One thing that sticks out to me however, is that they're open air which is a disadvantage with re to storms.

Does anyone know anyone in 7C's boat transportation? Are they going to be for special events like the pontoons? overflow transportation? or adding new routes between the resorts?

In these pics they had floating dock hands and seem to be on their own.

Actually the subs are in a "sub graveyard" somewhere on Disney property. It's basically a big plot of dirt behind some warehouse or something that has all the subs and a few other no-longer used props. There's a website somewhere that has aerial photos of it. I think there is one underwater at the Disney-owned Castaway Cay island (something like that) that you can only go to if you go on a Disney cruise and for a price you can snorkel over it, but I'm not sure if it's a real sub from the ride or one made just for this.

tis some kind of prop...not the actual sub. it's more or less a model of the sub.

They are no longer there. Haven't been for nearly a year

The AK boats look very out of place there on the Seven Seas Lagoon - they look quite scruffy - they looked perfect in AK, but not to float on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

I agree... Someone mentioned earlier this week that they are training some of the Transportaiton CM's on these boats.. I forgot the reason why though.... anybody know more  :)

The 20k Subs are now on Castaway Kay, Disney's private island for the Disney Cruse Line. They sunk them there to offer something to look at while diving.

The thing with the Radio DISNEY Cruise boats at Seven Seas is that we made some test with them to see if we could use them to help out, but it didnt work at all, these boats where not designed for open lakes, so to run them we need to have perfect weather conditions, not wind at all, and that is just a dream here. So dont expect to see them in a regular basis. We only brought one of them and is still here at Bay Lake.

Wonder if they could use them to transport guest to and from some of the resorts??? Or just be used for training for transportation CM's and or dropping off picking up CM's on the way to and from work

Extra routes in between resorts that don't have direct routes would make sense, i agree. But only during high demand times.

As far as training, those boats have an identical prop system to the Friendships. I don't think there are any boats operating in the 7C's lagoon/bay lake that use the same 360 degree prop system. This would have been the first, if it weren't for the structure.

On the Friendships, when we began a shift, we just went to the first dock in the rotation we were working that shift. The International Gateway for the EPCOT rotation, and the Y&B lighthouse for the Studios rotation. The only times a dock would be unmanned would be right away in the morning, and we'd sometimes use the manager's boston whaler to get those captains out to the various docks to setup a rotation alot faster than the Friendships could. But, if they use floating dock hands(they aren't waiting for you at the dock, they're with you on board and you let them jump off and rope you once you become flush with the dock) for the smaller resort->resort launches then that's a different story.
