AH! Beware of kazaa.

I am getting real tired of kazaa lite junk. All of a sudden, there is a popup saying I had a virus. I looked in the directory the virus was in, and there is a ton of "cracks" and tons of programs. I saw someone downloading one of these files from me on kazaalite, and I have no idea how they got there. Look at the pic and if you know anything, help me! I didnt put all this junk here, and make sure you don't get the same thing! I'm gonna have to work on this till its gone, and delete kazaa I'm going insane!!!!!

#1 Get rid of kAzZa " Lite"

# 2 download Ad Aware 6 and it should take care of it.. and if you dont like those files.. Then delete them

Well kazaalite IS GONE (not yelling at anyone), and at first I couldn't delete the files cuase "they were being used" and I never put them there in the first place. I renamed the directory and that allowed me to delete the files. And I've had Ad aware 6 for a while now, and it didn't find anything last night (and I just ran it now and it didn't find anything). Now the anti virus thing wont go away even though the files are gone. ARGGG dont get ANY version of kazaa, and check if you have a "user32" folder in c:\windows

Here is some info on that worm that I got off the Symantec website (Norton Anti-Virus)....This worm was discovered on Feb. 11th.

The W32.Kwbot.C.Worm attempts to spread itself through the KaZaA and iMesh file-sharing networks. The worm also has a backdoor Trojan capability that allows a hacker to gain control of the compromised computer.


Type: Worm
Infection Length: 553,600 bytes, 102,200 bytes
Systems Affected: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Me
Systems Not Affected: Macintosh, OS/2, UNIX, Linux



Don't expect Ad-aware to get rid of a virus. You better run a very reputable anti-virus program to locate the worm and kill it.

Hey Tramp, thanks for the info. I just wanna say it probably was my fault that I got the virus in the first place. I was looking for a arcade rom, and so I downloaded a file cuase I thought it was the rom. Now normally I'm not this stupid, but that night I was. Sometimes arcade games can be different sizes (hard to explain) but anyway I double clicked the file thinking it would unzip, but it didn't, it didn't do anything (or so I thought). Later on I saw someone downloading a winamp install file that I didn't even know I had. That was a couple of days ago. Just a warning to those of you that use kazaa - check the c:\windows\ directory for "user32" and check your system with a anti virus program.

Roms are illegal..hehe...well..yeah..but thats not the issue.

Next time look on the web..its safer

Well see the thing is, I like all programs to start up quickly. Having kazaa on all the time slows down the computer, so I hate that. And spywere doesn't help. And if I can't trust lite, I won't trust regular. Anyway, newsgroups have higher quality stuff, I just used kazaalite for misc junk. Another thing I hated about kazaalite is all the registry stuff it had. And the last thing I hate is how people make fake filenames, oh man also I hate how if I didn't share anything, people would yell at me. I hate when programs get over bloated with crap (like windows media player got, man that thing is real bad now). Anyone agree?
