Photo update as of Friday, Mar 13. The Harambe expansion along the Wildlife Express Train looks the same as the Feb 21 post, however, the building directly behind the Mombasa Marketplace gift store (over the fence) has part of the wall removed and an opening to serve as a door, with an overhead awning.

I searched and did not want to start a new thread so I'm asking here as this thread is dedicated to Africa.. Anyone know why parts of the safari are behind mesh fence and being dug up? Specific area I am referring to is just to the left in the savanna where the giraffes and termite mounds are..

Specifically, as part of nighttime safari, new animal "exhibits" will be included for animals that are active in evenings (which would have been boring to have up to this point). Can't wait to see the changes! :)

I was on the Safari Friday and somebody asked the tour guide. She said she had heard one of two animal exhibits as possibilities: some kind of African Dog (don't remember the name, sorry) or Hyenas. She wasn't sure though.

I'm visiting the AK on the 14th April. Any chance of this being open by then?

To put the final nail in the coffin, as of this past weekend, there was still PLENTY of work to be done. I would think it is more or less impossible that they would have it completed and certified for use as a public food preparation venue within 2 weeks.
