I have to say that IMO Alien Encounter was one of the worst attractions I have ever been on at WDW. The first preshow was pretty good (especially the video screens that said what future events would be held in the Convention Center; very cleaver and well themed), the second preshow seemed a bit unerving and too sadistic (poor Skippy), and the show was lousey. It did not live up to any hype that I had heard. It wasn't terrifying or frightening, it wasn't funny, and it was't entertaining. Too sadistic and cruel for my tastes. Hopefully, Stitch will be a little more light hearted and fun.

I don't think it's going to be really hard to figure out which one I voted for. Luckily I've got a couple of "illegal" videos of AE here on my computer. And while they will in no way be able to capture the essence of the attraction they are better than nothing. I can't wait until about this time next year and we see a new poll to find out if SGE was worth losing AE over. I've just got a funny feeling AE fans, like me, will get the last laugh. But hey who knows we'll just have to wait and see.

Your going into the new show with your mind made up already! You are not going in with an open mind you already know you will get the last laugh so I honeslty don't think we could honestly beleive what you think. You already have your mind made up about which one you will like.

If Stitch's Great Escape turns up to be bad, then the AE haters will just make comments like "At least it's better then Alien Encounter".

No if you have read any of my other posts, not specifically in this thread, I've said a few times that I am going to give SGE a fair chance. I hope it is a success but I just don't see how they can make a solid kid's show with a height requirement of 44 inches. And that requirement has already been semi-confirmed because of the harnesses staying. I wasn't refering to the attraction being good or bad, I ment there is a good chance that alot of the target audience may not be able to see it. And if this turns out to be the case there will be more complaints about SGE than AE ever had. Simply because 44 inches is a pretty steep height requirement for an attraction at Disney World. I apologize for not being more specific on this post.

Ah ha, but who said anything about us trying to catch him?

The attraction is all based on us getting stuck in the middle of the battle zone and him attacking us because he sees us as a threat.

Sorry, I didn't realize that, it just sounded like you had already made your mind up. I never knew there was a height requirement for this ride, which to me, doesn't make sense. That's the target area I was assuming they were going for. I didn't read your other posts so again, I apologize.

Not your fault at all. I wasn't specific enough.

I will definitely miss the old AE. It's a shame that they didn't think about changing the current system to update it with different experiences. They could program the attraction to have five or so different experiences. One they could put something different in the tube, change the escape, change the flight pattern, sprays, sounds, the related movies to the attraction could also be made differently. There was a wealth of possibilities with just changing the attraction itself without destroying the premise that could have given it new life and new freshness. What a shame that they felt that they had to interject a Disney Movie character into an attraction, they forget that those characters at XS:Tech WERE DISNEY CHARACTERS TOO! What a shame! Maybe next we can see the Haunted Mansion redone for Scooby Doo!

The reason that Alien Encounter was closed was because they were tired of people ignoring the warnings & then complaining about it.

Bingo! My avatar sums that theory up.

But I'm still trying to find attendance figures. . . hrm.

Well it's kinda hard to read but thanks.

I'm not going to lie and say that AE's attendence is the same now as it's always been. But I do feel that the attendence at AE maybe isn't as bad as some people would think. During this trip MOST of my "encounters" had at least 7/8 full theaters. I usually ran into full shows though. Like I've stated before the building is very large and holds alot of people. I

Then why don't they close down all the rides/attractions that have warnings???

The reason is that they want to stuff a cute recent animation character into an attraction without costing them a lot of money!

Well I certainly think that has alot to do with it. It's definately not the only reason but you have to know that they knew they could sell more Stitch merchandise in Merchant of Venus if they had a Stitch show there. I'm also not saying that's dirty because it is good business. I just wish they could've stuck Stitch somewhere else.

i was 100% against getting rid of AE, but now i hope that stitch does well. its not a matter of "at least its better than AE" or "AE was so much better than this" because we all want a good ride to ride on (or at least take some of the crowd away from space mountain). besides for us AE fans, there is nothing we can do. BTW dxwwf3- love the avator!

No actually one of the main reasons why they closed was in fact due to people ignoring the signs.

And yeah I know some of you are thinking the same thing about the deal over at M:S right now but unlike AE, M:S has had more and more signs and warnings throughout the attraction nearly every two weeks it seems like.

Now I've been around the mouse's house since my return back on Oct 18th 1998 (Fantasmic!'s B-Day), and I can honestly say, out of all the times Ive been to AE since then either in passing by it or riding it, I havent seen that many changes as far as new signs go. But thats not to say they havent been added and such.

Well one thing that makes it easier to add signs to Mission Space is that by adding more signs inside the attraction you are not ruining any story for M:S. Actually part of the storyline is that you are entering an intense training flight (even though I still don't think M:S is that intense. Overhyped? Yes. But still fun? Yes.)

You couldn't put any signs once you entered the building of AE. It would totally ruin the great story. Remember on AE nothing bad is supposed to happen :animwink: . But I know where you are coming from. I wish they would've added numerous warnings even if they took away from the story. A flawed attraction is better than losing it entirely.
