Alright guys as my trip to disney gets closer (33 more days :sohappy: ) My family and I have mixed feelings on Mission Space and its intensity. I was hoping to get some feedback on the ride itself and if its too intense as many say or is alright. Some say its not worst then rollercoasters, others say its the worst experience ever and then u have those who say its the best nothing like it.

Thanks
Danny :D

If you can handle most thrill rides, you can handle Mission: SPACE. It is an amazing attraction and a vast majority of guests are not sick after riding. Just be sensible about it. Don't eat before riding and don't make the mistake of riding twice your first time or riding Test Track before and after. Listen to all safety warnings during the preshow and abide by them and you should be fine and have a great flight! Just realize if you have ever gotten sick on other Disney rides, you might think twice about Mission: SPACE, but if you are fine on everything else in the parks, step into the cockpit!

IMHO, Mission:Space is unlike any attraction you have ever experienced. The detail in the que and the ride pods is just incredible. The actual ride experience is a bit intense but not overly so. The acceleration phase is amazing, very realistic, the "weightless phase" was a bit of a let down (again IMHO) and the ending is fast and furious, just like any other good thrill ride. The key seems to be to keep your head pointed straight ahead, focused on the screen in front of you. As long as you don't move your head side to side (and it is tempting to look around) the effects are really great. We are a family of three - all huge coaster fanatics and Disneyholics. I LOVED M:S, the other two were "eh, it was ok". Will we experience it again when we go back this summer? An emphatic YES! (As many times as I can get on!) Good Luck!

it's fun. if u can survive rides like drop zone and stuff like that u should be fine. just remember to look ahead at all times and don't ride this ride right after u've eaten and u will be fine.

It's not bad. I went on it once in August to test it out so when we came back and my son was tall enough I would know if it would be okay for him and my daughter. When we went back in February, my whole family rode it together(Myself, my wife, my 7yo daughter and 4yo son) and none of us had any problems either of the two times we went on it. You should be fine, and like everyone else said, just follow the directions.

When you're waiting in line, you'll keep being told that the attraction spins, they'll keep mentioning it over and over again. Don't think of it as spinning you might feel on the old carnival rides 'the scrambler' and 'the gravitron'. It's a different kind of spinning because you can't truly feel yourself spinning at all. If you weren't looking at a video monitor in front of you to focus on, you might get sick so that's why it's important to keep your eyes open at all times and to focus straight ahead, if you do that and don't shift your head around through the whole ride, you'll be fine.

I wouldn't say it's the most amazing ride since sometimes fast rides like rock'n' roller coaster and test track are a bit more fun because you're actually moving a lot more but it certainly is a new experience that only astronauts were able to experience.

Don't get yourself frightened off by the attraction. I went on the ride 15 times back in January and never got sick. Most times I went on 3-4 times in a row. Like ISTCNavigator57 said, don't eat a big meal before you go on. But definitely do it as one of the first attractions you do when you enter WDW so that in the actual event that you LOVE the ride, you'll have the rest of your trip to keep going on and on and on and on.....

In this thread and others you can find here, you will find the whole gamut of responses. I think it's a great experience and should be tried without too much preconception (is that possible :veryconfu ). Just as some folks can't deal with the teacups but love RnRC, there is just no way to know.

While highly publicized, I think the intensity and the number of people adversely affected is HIGHLY exaggerated.

bored

It was nothing compared to what you read. In fact, because I was anticipating such a thrill I ended up bored.

Thanks everyone who said this was the most intense ride on earth! :fork:

If you are really worried about becoming sick on the ride then take a Dramamine about an hour before you take the ride. When I was a child I used to get car sick all the time and I would take a Dramamine if we were taking a long trip and would be just fine.

Good luck, keep your eyes open and striaght ahead and have fun.

Have a magical day!
