Pre-Trip Adventure is out there!

6.6.2015: A beautiful day inside and out, filled with friends, family, and of course, Disney! And I married my best friend and my Mickey Mouse.
FotorCreated.jpg

'Happily Ever After' was the theme of our wedding, we danced to an instrumental version of Tale as Old as Time, and guests signed their names in balloons for an 'Adventure is out there!' guestbook.

While we're still reliving the magic of that day and night, we are also giddy with excitement of what's to come...

And not only "Until Disney"...but "Until Disney Land & Sea!" (C'mon Etsy, get it done!)

Let's get to it!

The Cast
Me and my husband (wow that's weird to say!) J. This will be our 6th trip to Disney together, and our 2nd Disney Cruise! Can't forget out babies, Goofy & Pluto.
IMG_2017.JPG

The Story
In a nutshell, we had the honeymoon planned before the wedding. ;) We've been going to Disney every fall and it has always worked wonderfully for us. So yes, September is far away from June, but it'll be worth the wait in many ways. And considering how busy we've been since the wedding, I'm actually glad we decided against going on our honeymoon right away. It gave us time to open presents, write thank you notes, spend time with people, do all that paperwork stuff, and just appreciate the simple things. But now it's full steam ahead for the Disneymoon! And since this is a Disneymoon, this opportunity was practically screaming "MAKE ME A LAND & SEA TRIP!!!"

The Plan
7 days at Walt Disney World! We booked this trip as a Free Dining bounceback. It was nice to have the peace of mind that we wouldn't have to scramble to get the deal or resort that we wanted - definitely doing this again. :p

Speaking of resort...we're staying at Pop Century. I know - sounds very honeymoon-y doesn't it? :hilarious: We seriously considered upgrading our resort choice this trip, especially with all the Disney Gift Cards and $$$ we got as gifts but we just couldn't justify the cost. We spend all of our time playing. After much deliberation, we decided to save the deluxes for when we have children. It will definitely be more worth it then - in many ways.

Dining is all booked and I am very pleased. I'll make a subsequent post with a more detailed itinerary of each day with our choices. I love food. *sigh*

On Day 8, we will rent a car (perks of being 25 woohoo...) and roadtrip to Miami, FL. (Sounds romantic right? :D I'm actually pretty excited. Got my Disney music and my man - I'm good to go!)

We're spending the night at the Holiday Inn on Biscayne Boulevard, right by the Port of Miami.

Then it's onto a 4 night Bahamian Cruise on the Disney Magic! Our last Disney Cruise was on the Dream in 2012 and I've been itching to go [Disney] cruising so badly. On a different and reimagined ship at that! We have an Oceanview room which should be plenty adequate for us. We had a verandah on the Dream, but it was that nice plexiglass stuff. Not sure I would pay the same for the solid wall on the Magic. I caught the plexiglass bug. ;)

We'll be stopping at Castaway Cay, Nassau, and Key West. Everyone loves CC for obvious reasons, and we've never been to Key West, so there is plenty of adventure to be had! Our excursion booking date is coming up next week and right now, the big decision is...should we or should we not do the Atlantis Aquaventure? Expensive-yes, looks fun-yes, never-will-we-ever stay at Atlantis so when else would we be able try it? But then, is it even worth it? Topic of discussion this weekend. :)

Excited to eat at all the restaurants, to watch all the shows, to look fancy, and to spend all the time in the world together.

That's all for now! Thanks for reading - there will be more to come!

It's time for Food & Wine!
10_14_13-epcot-international-food-and-wine-festival.jpg

Menus were released recently and it took us a while to find time to sit down and look over the menus and pick out what we wanted to try on our one day at the festival, and here is what we came up with:

Brazil: Escondidinho de carne, “Little Hidden One”: layered meat pie with mashed yucca
food-and-wine-festival-preview-brazil-escondidinho-de-carne-layered-meat-pie-001-615x600.jpg

Chew Lab: New York strip, parsnip silk, balsamic glaze and arugula foam

China: Mango Jasmine Tea with popping bubbles

We're trying not to repeat experiences we have already had, but this was J's favorite back in 2013 and he MUST have this again.

And if he gets the repeat, so do I! Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad and Lotus Root Chips

Hello there old friend.

Snack credits, Disney Gift Cards, a few beers for J sprinkled in here and there, and a Marketplace Discovery Passport for me = a wonderful afternoon spent at EPCOT. Cannot wait. :)

Fastpasses have been selected! I waited until midnight because yes, I am a crazy and paranoid person, but also because anything Disney-related-booking gives me an adrenaline rush. More planning!? Yes please!

So getting right to it - checking for our very first day - Magic Kingdom. Of course, my eyes go right for Seven Dwarves Mine Train...but where is it?! A little panic ensues. I know the parks probably won't be as empty as they were during our trip last year, but NO MINE TRAIN?! I grabbed Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and Peter Pan (it's just so magical!) and moved onto the next day: EPCOT.

I swear if Soarin' has no Fastpasses, tears will begin to fall. But all was well. Got our Soarin' FP and decided that this would be our Seas with Nemo and Friends Exploration Day, and rounding out with Mission SPACE. If we can snag an actually helpful 4th FP, then great.

The hot commodity at Hollywood Studios is Toy Story Mania of course. Gotta have it, multiple times. That means FP plus rope drop. And maybe pretty please a 3rd chance for our Best-of-3 series? I'm so happy Tower of Terror is not a Tier 1 FP. We've never experienced terribly long lines there, but I literally have to ride this 8x a day. We decided to nix our previous mantra of not using FPs for shows, fireworks, and parades, and get one for the Frozen Sing-Along. Saw it last year and it was actually really good. And the lines were will this ever end!? long. Not sure what they're like nowadays, but we preferred this to burning at FP at Star Tours anyways. Feeling kinda queasy right now.

Animal Kingdom is always the easiest. Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, and DINOSAUR. Boom! Done.

And we're back to Magic Kingdom. Mine Train - thank goodness! Along with Space & Splash Mountain, it's gonna be a good at the Magic Kingdom.

Back to EPCOT again, and we've got Soarin', Journey into Imagination lol, and the Character Spot. Ah, what the heck! It's all good.

Rounding out Part I of the Disneymoon is Magic Kingdom, of course. Back to the trusty ol' Mine Train, Space, and Big Thunder Mountains.

Overall, very pleased with our FP selections and strategies. My Disney Experience a little wonky, per usual, but nothing a little F5 couldn't handle.

I asked J, "Usually how many days in the countdown does it take for you to get really excited for Disney?" He was like, "Maybe 10." 10?! For me, when we reach the 40s, it really starts to hit me. I don't know why, but this is always always the case. Maybe it's because before I know it, 40 turns into 30 and then I get the 'LESS THAN A MONTH' obsession.

So what better way to channel my countdown jitters with a list of things I cannot wait for: (accompanied with pictures from our previous trips)

I am sooo looking forward to your trip! However, we are vacationing at the same time, so I'll have to catch up when I get home!!
It usually takes me a week or two to get my trip report started when we come home. Too soon, haha! I'm not doing a live TR. I'd say I leave my phone at the resort locked away for 99% of the trip. Sometimes it's dead by the time I get to it lol!

You're so sweet. I hope you have a wonderful trip and see ya there! ;)

Look what came in the mail!
IMG_8356.JPG

Who doesn't love getting Disney mail?! J is always so thoughtful and waits for me to open our Disney correspondence. So it took some effort for me to restrain myself from tearing this open until he got home.

My thoughts and overanalyzations:
  • Luggage tags are the same as, like, the past two years. Was hoping for something new...but...oh did they finally get rid of those little sheets of paper that are impossible to slide into the tag itself? Jolly good!
  • The attach-y string-things are nice and sleek now too.
  • I forgot about getting our 'free' refillable resort mugs! I guess it's cause we've been on the dining plan for the past few years now, the novelty has worn off...not! Can't wait to get some new colors to add to the collection.
  • They changed the little vouchers in the booklet to look even more like coupons...very cute!
Ah, the little things. :)

Good news...I got a Seven Dwarves Mine Train FP for our first day! Hard work pays off and I will be sure to enjoy it! :)

More good news...I found this little beauty at the Disney Store Outlet:
IMG_8403.JPG

When I saw these at the parks last year...it was one of those *gasp* I-MUST-HAVE-THAT moments! But then I looked at the price and had one of those *gasp* twelve-freakin'-dollars-are-you-kidding-me moments.

So the best part of this inspirational story is...I got it for 2 bucks. A year later! But still as cute, yummy, and perfect of a souvenir you could ever want.

A little bit of pre-Disney shopping...just what I needed. :)

To fuel the fire even more, we've been continuing our tradition of watching a Disney movie every weekend. Some of our recent viewings:
  • Big Hero 6: This was pretty cute...it gave me the feels.
  • Ratatouille: I hadn't seen this in it's entirety before...I really REALLY hate rats. So putting aside the fact that I was very disturbed during some parts, loved the music, scenery, and the story in general.
  • Lilo and Stitch: One of our favorites. Ohana means family...
  • Sleeping Beauty: J had never seen this before. I thought he'd be bored, but he kept exclaiming, "Wow! This animation is amazing for it's time!" He also applauded Merryweather for her progressive attitude. :p
  • Cinderella: This movie is quintessential-Disney for me. The sceneries: mansions, fountains, castles, sparkles EVERYWHERE! I love.
  • Hercules: It's been a looong time since I've seen this. Caught onto so many more details and (adult) references that previously went completely over my head. Plus, laughed way too hard at this:
hercules+pain+wearing+air+hercs.png

Next up on the playlist (might have to start doing 2 per weekend!) Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Mulan, Little Mermaid...or maybe Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., and Dinosaur to really match up with some of the things we'll experience in the parks!

So many choices! Fortunately, little time is left. :D

It was a good day for Disney mail!
IMG_8415.JPG

I couldn't stop smiling when I opened this. Ahhhh, everything just looked, smelled, and felt so fresh. (I'm talking about a rubber wristband here...) We got pink and green last time so we wanted to add to the rainbow this year. That yellow is going to get destroyed real quick.

Lo and behold, a second delivery!
IMG_8416.JPG

Cruise documents! And we are officially being recognized and addressed as Silver Castaway Club members! I feel so special. Inside was a bunch of terms and conditions stuff, our reservation details of course, and also some fun little things like packing lists and contact cards. If you wanna contact us, we'll be sailing away on the Disney Magic and probably not answering any calls. :p

Also did some Be Our Guest preordering this week. Even though we both knew where our loyalties lie, it was fun seeing all the food pictures. I strongly believe Disney introduced this concept for people like me...

It's getting even more real and I really have to start packing! This is definitely the longest Disney trip we've taken and we always make do with 2 carry-ons. But this year, with a few extra days of fun tacked on, bringing suits and dresses, and I guess a maximum of...2 heels? (Oh the horror!) I need to practice my packing!

I don't even know how this started. We went from the 'oh let's just take it easy and rent a bike, maybe some floaties, and enjoy the beach' to 'just kidding, let's go parasailing!' I think we may have saw a promotional image while just looking over our cruise details and the urge was strong. Whatever marketing ploy it was, it worked.

It's a bucket-list item, it really is. We see it when we hit up local beaches all the time but then we're like, "we're not going to pay that kind of money to parasail over this subpar beach..." But Castaway Cay...you are so worth it. Forget the price and that it's ~5 minutes of air time. For us, it's probably a once-in-a-lifetime kinda thing...so in the spirit of vacation aka TREAT YOSELF...that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

You won't regret it!! My son and I did it last June and loved it! So worth the money! Have a great trip!
