Well this really works fine. I will be at WDW 3/1 through 3/6. Yesterday I still needed breakfast at Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's and Tusker House. I left this site up and loaded with the dates, 3 restaurants and breakfast and 3 people in party. Periodically as I was working I would press the search button. Unbelievably I managed to find all 3 reservations by today.

Wow, it works so much better and makes authoritative ADRs that are recognized by Disney.

Who knew that a third party site would make ADRs better than Disney's own system, and they are honored.

Who...knew...

Nobody uses FONT tags anymore, it will be changed with CSS :)

I created the site and if anyone has any feature requests/problems. Please use the Feedback link on the site.

Thanks for using it!
Fine. p{font-family:"pick something"}

That's difficult.

Also, just because it was depreciated doesn't mean that it's no longer recognized. I think it will be a very long time before browsers stop parsing the font tag...even the mobile ones do. So for a quick and dirty, there is no reason not to use it until a style sheet can be fleshed out.

Not sure how long this will last. I can't imagine Disney will allow a screen scrape of their site on and ongoing basis.

It's actually using their internal api that they use for everything; app and websites. It would be hard for them to stop it. I guess the could just block it by ip, but I could always use proxies.

It will be easy to stop if they see the need by signing the requests and only issuing that key to authorized apps. I would be extremely cautious about using their API without permission.

While they should already have this sort of security built into the API (you would think the designers would have thought of this possibility)...I agree.

Tapping out and hitting Disney API resources without approval is a VERY bad idea...even if they have exposed them, I can guarantee that was not their intent.

It's their Ajax API exposed in plain sight on their website. The only thing you can do to secure that from programs is a captcha, but there is no way they would require that.

It's not like this site is using a lot of resources, it just organizes the search the way they should have made it. It would be the same as you using the official site.

Anyways, if they some how stop it, fine. But until then use it up!

Instead of all of this foolish debating, why don't we just use it while we can. I have really had an easy time getting my hard to get last minute ADRs with it. It is really a great tool!

Because it's not foolish. You obviously do not do any development for a living. It's not "cute" to exploit someone's site without their knowledge or approval, even if they make it easy for you to do so. Disney has no intention of sharing it's ADR API with the non-approved Disney affiliated sites.

Useful or not (and, for the record, I do like the multi-day search feature), the idea is solid, but turning it into a practical public site, and then marketing (like this thread does) and encouraging its use is just bad IT juju on so many levels.

It's an exploit of a security / design flaw in their system. One that they may not shut down (don't get @Trotsky started on that!)...but that's not the point.

If it was authorized, different story. And, kudos to @JoshCarcione for coding it. But...the whole idea of snaking calls to their API without their consent is just too grey hat to me. It doesn't leave a very good taste in my mouth.

Love the idea, love the concept, but refuse to use it out of principle.

Hey I'm fine if no one uses it. Especially once I have the wait list/SMS notifications on there. I'll be getting the hard to get adrs.

If the admins do not feel comfortable with this, they can remove the thread.

No laws are being broken. TOS, yeah but not enforceable unless you specifically checked something off and consented.

I think about it like this; it's the same as if I had 15 tabs open at once looking for 15 different days. It just automates the process. It's the same as hiring a company to get the ADR for you.

The best and most effective way for Disney to stop me or anyone else from doing this. Is not to block it, but rather enable the functionality on their site.
