Couldn't they just throw some OAuth and basically ban-hammer this site?

No, oauth wouldn't do anything. There is no username and password required to access the dining search.
I'm basically emulating the web browser. What ever you can do in chrome, I can do in the software.
Obviously they can make it harder or block the ip.
They did make a change on the site that broke the script today. I'm hoping to update it soon, just need to find time.

I'm shocked they don't have some safeguards in place for that for a quazipublic API. I thought I traced this out ages ago with firebug trying to find the REST or SOAP calls and came to the conclusion they had some protections built in. Maybe I'm just smoking something and am thinking of something else. Either way, good luck - hope they don't break it on you. It's a good idea.

No offense, but I don't know you, so I don't know what you would or wouldn't do. Why don't you post your credit card number on this site, since we're all such trustworthy folks?

I'm sure you haven't tried it out, otherwise you wouldn't have asked the question.
It posts links to the Disney site, if Disney asks you for a cc then it goes to them.
You can verify this by looking at what website you are on when you give the cc info. You could also click on https to verify the ssl cert.
My site does not even have an input for cc info. But if your feeling generous feel free to send me some money
