LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Sept. 6, 2002) -- Walt Disney World Resort today unveiled a new, advance-purchase program that offers substantial savings on multi-day tickets for its four theme parks.

With the Advance Purchase Savings program, beginning Sunday, Sept. 8, guests who buy tickets before they leave home can save up to $12 on select multi-day Park Hopper tickets, versus the price for the same ticket at the theme park gate.

The savings add up. For instance, a family of four that buys 5-Day Park Hopper tickets before leaving home will save $48.

“Our new Advance Purchase Savings program makes the good value of a Disney World vacation even better for those who do a little more planning,” said Al Weiss, president of Walt Disney World Resort. “By purchasing multi-day Disney tickets before they leave home, our guests can realize substantial savings.”

Advance Purchase Savings are available for select Park Hopper, Park Hopper Plus and Ultimate Park Hopper tickets.

While still at home, guests can purchase multi-day tickets online at disneyworld.com, by calling 407/W-DISNEY, at participating Disney Stores outside of Florida or through a travel agent. The ticket savings are included when guests purchase select Walt Disney World vacation packages before leaving home.

Examples of the savings:

4-Day Park Hopper (ages 10 and older) purchased at gate: $199
4-Day Park Hopper (ages 10 and older) purchased in advance: $192 …a savings of $7
5-Day Park Hopper (ages 10 and older) purchased at gate: $229
5-Day Park Hopper (ages 10 and older) purchased in advance: $217 …a savings of $12

Glad I bought when I did!

Just this year I bought enough annual pass vouchers at my local Disney Store to insure that my family and I can go to WDW for the next 8 years without any price increases. History shows that Disney normally raises their ticket prices in January of each year. Due to the drop in visitation after 9/11, Disney did not raise their ticket prices during January, 2002. I knew that this wouldn't last too long so I decided to buy while the prices were low. I'm set through at least 2011.

Don't know yet Belle. It is a very interesting point you bring up. The former annual pass price (for a Disney Club Adult member) was $354.04. The same adult renewal was $316.94. Therefore you saved $37.10 on the renewal. That is exactly why I track the prices so closely. Some years it is better to renew while other years it is better to buy a new pass. Visitation times of course also must be worked into the formula! As I said, I'm good until 2011 if I just stand pat. If a renewal is less expensive (and I am sure some will be during the next 8 years) then I'll go that route. My objective it just to get the best bang for the buck.

Hi Talsonic,

I'm annual pass holder and would like to know where do you buy the vouchers? Are they for sale at The Disney Store? Thanks

The vouchers are actually called, "Exchange Certificates" and they are for sale at your local Disney Store. If you are a member of the Disney Club you also get a discount on the voucher. The voucher is not a ticket, therefore the clock doesn't start to tick until you actually make the exchange at WDW. If you renew an annual pass then the clock starts ticking immediately.
