Adults dress up for P&P party?

We are going in a few weeks for my DD 5th Birthday. She is going to be Snow White and my husband (who LOVES Pirates) finally has an excuse to wear his costume. We've been to the MNSSHP the last few years and dressed up and had a blast. My question is how many adults dress up for this event? and how can you dress like a pirate (wench) without offending anyone and being comfortable? most importantly comfort.

How about going as a female pirate? Not that hard to do...one of those white billowy shirts with the long puffy sleeves, belted with a wide black shiny "piratey" looking belt, wear with a pair of dark capris, with a red bandana on head or as a headband, & large gold hoop earrings? That wouldn't be too hot, should be relatively inexpensive, and if you're wearing your own capris, they should be comfortable. I've seen similar outfits worn by women at Halloween...you may be able to find the right kind of shirt at local 2nd hand store like Goodwill or Salvation Army Thrift store (look in the guys' department, too. You'll want one that's kind of large & blousy so you can belt it for the pirate look.) Maybe you'll spot a vest that would work, too. Have fun!:animwink:

Not as many adults dress up for that event as they do for the Halloween. I would say that you would be in the minority. Having said that, there are adults that do dress up, so you definately wouldnt be the only one! It may be because the event is new, and over time more will bring costumes.

The night I was there, about half of the adults were dressed up. Some of them were awesome, almost professional looking! :)

Not old, just vintage.
The P and P party I went to in January had a lot of adults dressed up. Some of the costumes were amazing. A lot of adult pirates and a handful of princesses. I contemplated bringing an old bridesmaids dress and turning it into a princess costume. There were numerous teenage girls running around in prom dresses as princesses too.
I say go for it and dress up!

Just attended the party last Tues...saw some dressed up, most were not. I think it's mostly a question of comfort. But I can promise that you would not be alone.:animwink:

Thank you so much for the comments! I think I'm going to give it a try. Atleast we will have some neat pictures to look back at just like the MNSSHP.

We went last year and I would say a majority of the people in attendance were dressed up. We all went as pirates except my daughter who is a princess all the way. My mom, WHO IS 60! was one of the prettiest pirates I have ever seen. She had to run to Epcot before the party, to return something, and she was stopped serval times by guests who were asking for directions or who had other questions. They all thought she worked there. She did her best to answer the questions then did her best to get back to MK as quick as possible. She was a little embarassed. She did admit it was fun running around Epcot dressed as a pirate.

If you can keep the cleavage to a minimum it would be appreciated otherwise, knock yourself out. Had to ask a woman to pull up her dress before being photographed with Jack

When we went my whole family dressed up...including my parents! A lot of adults dress up. We saw a man dress up as Barbossa w/ the beard and all! We even thought he was a cast member at first! :animwink:

Dress up, it makes it so much more fun.

We did and had a blast. Here are a couple pics of us in our pirate costumes.

Yes, and this picture reminds me. ALWAYS bring rain gear to a P&P party. It appears to be a rule. It will rain on P&P nights. Honestly... can't remember one without rain of late.
