ADR Question... Adding a person....

We have are ADRs all set for next month and now my mother in law is going to come over to see the girls for a few days.... Is it possible to show up for our reservation and add another person? We have reservations for 6 (2 adults, 9, 8, 5, & 3 year olds) now and need to add one more adult... I called and Disney told me they could not add a person I had to make completely new reservations.... The restaurants in question are Chef Mickeys, Coral Reef, Tusker House Breakfast, and Cape May Breakfast if that matters... Thanks!

In the past I've arrived at the podium with an extra person several times. The only time I've ever been told the extra person(s) couldn't be accommodated was at LeCellier which is understandable. I've even been accommodated at CRT for dinner with an extra person. Go online and see if you can rebook stuff at comparable times with your extra person added. For those you can't get, just show up & hope for the best. It's not that uncommon and they'll help ya out if they can. If they can't, don't be shocked or upset, tho. Have fun!

It really depends on the restaurant, and what kind of tables they have.

In some cases tables seat 6, and you'll have been assigned to a 6-person table. Going to 7 means you'd need a larger table, and they may not have those available.

In other cases, your party may be assigned two adjacent 4-person tables, so you'll have the capacity to add one person.

What I would do is see if you can book new reservations with 7 Guests. For those that you are able to, you can then cancel the old reservations. For those that you can't, I'd say go to the restaurant and ask at the check-in podium, but be prepared for a backup plan if they can't add the extra adult. (Either by going elsewhere as a group, or the extra adult makes their own eating arrangements)

Thanks... that's what I figured... If they can't it's not the end of the world, she knows we are trying to have her join us but our reservations are already done..I figured some places have bigger than others so you never know..... I will keep trying to change them online too. Thanks again!

For our Dec trip, we had 2 people come on board 2 mos after I booked all of our dining. I called and couldn't get them added to certain hard to get ADRs and couldn't find new ADRs for our larger party number. I was also afraid of getting turned away at the podium, so I gave up searching for spots for 8 and started looking for spots for 2 around our reservation times. It was MUCH easier finding slots for 2...and with the exception of one ADR, we were able to get them ADRs for everything within about 5-15 mins of ours and they were all able to seat us together or near us.

The only thing we couldn't get was a slot for 2 was Mama Melrose, which was also the Fantasmic pkg. I asked at the podium if they could work in our extra 2 and they say no- b/c they can't give away any more Fantasmic passes. I asked if they could just eat with us and skip Fantasmic passes for them...I was also told no. So, b/c of that- I'd try and find some way to get an ADR for those extra people.
