ADR Observation

Isn't that around the same time as the food and wine festival? I'll bet that has something to do with it.

Yes, that is why I was amazed to get every ADR I wanted. I haven't been able to get the ADR's I wanted at the times I wanted during the F & W Festival in the past. LeCellier was always booked solid.

we are going to WDW in OCt and wanted to eat at le cellier on our second night around 6. the earliest they had available was 8:40pm so we're taking it ...wish it would've been earlier though...

I would still keep checking every day to see if something opens up around 6. You'd be amazed at how persistence pays off on ADR's sometimes. There are always people switching them around or cancelling. Hope you get what you want, at the very least you already have an ADR for LeCellier. :)

I think that the current dining reservation system is clogged with uneeded ADRs. People cancel a trip to WDW but don't cancel the ADRs. Some people think that cancelling a resort reservation automatically cancels all the ADRs. People staying off site aren't even connected at all to the ADRs.

There is currently no mechanism for verifying ADRs shortly before their effective date. No email asking for verification so they can be cancelled if no longer valid.

Since there is no penalty for not using an ADR, many just sit there uncancelled even though the guests that made them will never show up.

You are soooo right, as well as the ADR's that go unused because people made multiple ones and dont bother to cancel the ones that they wont use.

There should be some kind of verification system on the ADR's, it would allow others the chance to get in,

I've been making my September ADRs as well the past week or two. The ONLY thing I've not been able to get is Le Cellier for dinner any night of our trip, (though I've gotten lunch twice) and Rose & Crown for right before/during Illuminations. Every other thing I've wanted, I've gotten relatively easily! I've even made an abundance of ADRs and let my DF decide where he'd like to eat based on menus.

I guess it's a good sign that we'll have nice crowd levels?

That's exactly what I thought! Here's to short lines and multiple food samplings at Epcot!

Being new to trying the whole Dining plan thing, does this generally open up in the fall for free? And if so, do ADR's that are already book ahead of time still stand??

I thought I knew the ropes of Disney until I came to this Forum. You guys are brilliant! :sohappy:

Surely if they havent used them by default it means someone will have gotten in?

Not really the point, Great Bard.
People want to make their ADRs in advance but if the system is clogged already then they can't.

Picture a mother trying to get an ADR at her child's favorite restaurant. Months ahead she tries and tries but to no avail.
Why? Because there are so many invalid ADRs in the system that no openings are there for her and her little one.
Tis truly a tragic outcome.

Maybe Disney has listened to everyone complaining about how free dining makes it impossible to get ADRs? Maybe they're delaying the free dining deals to give people who already have reservations the opportunity to book their dining before the free offer is announced.

It's probably just a fluke, but I'm hoping the trend continues. We have 35 days until we can make ADRs...I'd love for there not to be a free dining offer announced for December until after my window opens...selfishly speaking...:lookaroun

This sounds good to a lot of us heading down around this time. We didn't have any problems with our ADR's either and were able to get what we wanted. Chef Mickey's we were able to get early in the morning before we go to the Magic Kingdom. May be since a lot of people aren't willing to get out of bed that early yet. Can't beat that!
