ADR etiquette question

Hi all, I'd like some opinions on whether making an ADR but eating only dessert (or an appetizer and dessert) would be a faux pas or not.

Obviously, common courtesy would apply: making sure to tip the server well, not "camping" at the table, booking for a slightly 'off' time as opposed to the main dinner rush, etc. Let's also leave out the Signatures; I'm thinking of everyday TS places like Mama Melrose, Liberty Tree, and San Angel Inn.

Would this be considered rude, either to the server or to the other guests who are also trying to get ADRs? On one hand, the server would be able to turn the table quickly. On the other, it may not be normal for the in-parks restaurants and the competition for ADRs may make this a touchy subject. What do you think? Has anyone done this, and what kind of server reaction did you get?

This is an interesting question. I don't think it would be rude. When you call to make the ADR, I would mention to the cast member that you are making a dessert only ADR, that might be helpful. But no, I don't think it is rude.

Thanks for the responses!

From the thread topic, I was expecting FLAMEWAR 2013 when I popped in here. ;)
Oh, I hope not! In the real world, this wouldn't even cross my mind as a possible issue. I go to local places for dessert and coffee all the time. The world of ADRs seems to have its own code, however, so thought it would be best to ask.

No worries, from the thread title I thought it was going to be a question like :

"Can I book 37 ADRs across property for the same time\day because me and my family are finicky and I can't decide where to eat, Is that a problem?"
or
"Can I sell my ADR for CRT on ebay?"

You asked a perfectly non-flame worthy question.

You should be able to order whatever you want with no questions. Since ADR's have to be booked so far out you never know what you may want. Let's say you got up late and ate a waffle at Sleepy Hallow at 11 and had a lunch ADR at Tony's at 1 you might be interested in just an app and dessert instead of a full meal. Order what you want, tip accordingly and enjoy your trip!

i agree with you completely, tip well, don't campout and enjoy. i don't even think you need to go "off-time" as you said. it's a restaurant and you are going in to eat, the server will get a fair income, as soon as you leave, a new patron will be seated, and no animals were harmed in the making of this reservation.
it's all good. don't feel funny in the least.
