Adding one person to an ADR.

If we have an ADR for 5 people and just found out that one other person wants to join, can we show up with them and have them seated with us? I've called Disney to get a new ADR with 6 people, but we wouldn't get the time have with the original ADR. Thanks.

Almost every table at WDW is set for an even number of guests [some round booths might not be, I'm not certain]. So adding one to an ADR for 5 shouldn't be a problem at all.

I have often added one to an ADR for 2, but the wait was longer than it might otherwise have been. Although I've done it several times and never been refused, I've always gone in prepared to send the extra person to eat at QS... :lookaroun

Just add the 6th person when you check in at the podium. Like Monty said most tables at WDW are 2, 4 or 6 tops os there will be room for that 6th guest.

Great question! I'm running into a similar situation on my upcoming September trip: I'm vacationing with 2 other people and all of my ADR's are made for a party of 3. However, another guest made join us for the last two days of our eight day trip. I was wondering if I should call to rearrange these ADR's or just show up to those restaurants with the 4th person. Sounds like we should just show up and let the host know of our addition.

You might want to keep calling and checking to see if something has opened up. I am not sure how it goes when you try to add people on check in. The last trip we did do some walk up reservations because it was a very last minute trip!! 2 adults and 2 kids!!

I have personally never had a problem with adding one more to the reservation. Every ADR we had this trip we were able to add one to our original 2 with no problem. We never even had to wait longer. Of course we do tend to show up a little early for our ADR's (10 to 15 mins tops) and just tell them when we check in at the hostess that we would like to add one more to the table.

I really think 1 or 2 more is nothing the issue becomes when you want to add like an entire table more.

I would just show up with the 4th person if it can't be added with the times you already have. We are a family of 3 and we ALWAYS have a seat empty at our table.

The only problems that I can see by just turning up with an extra diner, is when you've booked for 2 and turn up with 3, or, booked for 4 and turn up with 5, as both options would require a bigger table (which may not readily be available)

I've read of it going both ways - so maybe?

In April we wanted to go to Prime Time, but could only get reservations for 2. It was last minute reservations. We showed up with 4, and they never batted an eye. They were very nice and accommodating.

When I was working down there my Aunt made ADR's for her whole party. There was never a problem adding me to a table when they checked in at the restaurant. They even let me in one of the magical gatherings meals they had reservations for.

I agree. If the extra person just fills out the table, it shouldn't be a problem, and I would just let them know at the podium. But if it would require a completely different table size it might be a long wait.

Common courtesy would be to try to make a new ADR for 6 people. If you hosted a dinner party for 5 people, set a table for 5 people and then 6 showed up, of course you would accommodate, but it does throw a wrench in your plan.

Also, keep in mind, you technically would not have an ADR for 6, so there could be more of a wait. And, it is not the restaurants fault if they can't accommodate your party or you have a longer wait.
