Adding a person to an ADR

Has anyone ever tried adding a person to their ADR when they showed up for dinner? Was it a problem? I have reservations for 5 but want to add a 6th person for one of our dinners.

Adding a sixth to an ADR for 5 shouldn't be a problem. The seatings are usually for even numbers of guests, so evening out an odd number won't change anything.

I have shown up at Boma when I had an ADR for two and brought a third and they seated us without a problem. I don't know how common that is though.

Glad you asked this too. All of our ADRs are for 3 people, but there is a chance that a 4th person will join us on any day, and I won't know until the last minute because my mother and MIL refuse to make commitments to us.

 ... sounds like my own family. Waiting on my dad to see if my mom will be coming with us. She wants to come with us as a birthday present :)

How about the other way round? Say if you booked all your ADRs for four people, and the other couple couldn't make the trip, are you best off trying to change the ADRs, or simply show up and say "sorry, the other two couldn't make it"?

I have a reservation for 10 at Garden Grill for the 14th. I found out a week ago that the other family is bringing Grandma. I called dining and they said no room for one more. I also asked if we just show up will they seat us. She said probably not becouse they are full and it could put them over fire code.
Anyone have advice? Should I cancel the adr or show up and try it. The other family said they would opt out if they have to but it's my son's b-day.

I did this too. My Mother thought she wanted to go with us this next Dec and now she has changed her mind. I changed our ressie for 5 to 6. Some of my confirmation numbers changed and some didn't. But when i went to get her into Akershus they said no they couldn't do it, but to just bring her and we could see. They said tables for 5 only were there largest. That doesnt seem right but oh well. She also told me if she changed her mind not to call and take it off. Becasue they are all filled up this time of year that we would loose our ressies if they could not accomodate 5 at that time instead of 6. They said to just show up for each of them and say she was sick or something. So that I will do. I will not loose any of them at this point as from what I have read they are booked solid the week of Dec 5-14th.

So you reckon just show up? I'm scared that as my ADRs are linked, if I do that more than once, they'll just cancel the rest of my ADRs... and I've got a F!DP on the last night (just for the two of us) and I'd probably cry if they cancelled that!

It all depends on what time of year you're going (and how busy it will be). To be safe DON'T just turn up - ring the Dining Line NOW and amend your reservations.
Although your bookings are linked, Disney won't cancel any of them unless you tell them to.
