âNo active shooterâ: Fight leads to panic at Disneyâs Magic Kingdom, deputies say
Deputies said a fight broke out, and a “popping sound” could be heard, leading to an active shooter rumor.
Everything is under control now so all good. Park exit was a mess but that is to be expected. Monorails and ferry boats will remain offline, busses only back to the parking lot.Care to share?
If a balloon escalated the situation I would be all for eliminating them.
-They are way too expensive
-They are annoying during firework shows
-They are annoying to store when doing anything in the park other then walking the midway
-Bad for the environment
-A waste of a non renewable resource (helium.)
A balloon was also responsible for a horse getting spooked and almost very badly injuring the Merida performer riding horseback and its handlers back in 2020.If a balloon escalated the situation I would be all for eliminating them.

If they had been selling plastic straws for $20 each they’d still be in the parks. This is so true. Remember how easy it was for the wdw company to 86 plastic straws in the name of saving the environment? Balloons are 1000x worse that plastic straws, not only bad for the environment but bad for wildlife
Hm. As a former employee. I did not have any training, talk, or anything on this matter. I would just assume the CMs are using common sense. From very little reporting so far it sounds like there's at least a plan and that CMs have done a good job implementing. At least one unverified report of guests in shops on eastern part of main street shuttled into bypass where gates were closed on both ends.
There may have been that... Actually.. Yea... But I wouldn't consider that training. I wouldn't have known what to do lolYes I recall video training when I trained at MK. In most cases there was a code, certain codes meant get people into the Utilidors.
Yes, there is training for this and we have to do it every year or so. Same for fires, tornadoes etcMy other question is do cast members ever receive training on what to do during an active assailant situation (e.g. "Run, Hide, Fight" or something along those lines)?
Whatever happened, I do not envy the poor college program CMs who will have to clean up the Emporium...
Hi all this is my tweet lol
I just got home, was a scary situation but the police have said there was NO real threat. They did send us backstage (I was in emporium, got out by where they keep the vehicles of main st). Monorails were closed and they were trying to get everyone on the ferries, which was chaos. I went to the Contemporary and got picked up.
Your post is spot-on, and if you replace the word "balloon" with "cupcake" you are still spot on.If a balloon escalated the situation I would be all for eliminating them.

We appreciate the immediate response of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to quickly assess and clear the situation. Normal operations have resumed and the park is now closed for the evening.
I will add, I believe everyone in “operations” receives the training, which is the large majority of cast to my knowledge. There’s no drills but get video training on computer.
