About the Frontierland Hoedown and CBJ

Ok guys, two questions in one:

1) Does anyone know if Disney still does the Frontierland Hoedown, and for that matter, that show with the black guys in Adventureland, and Merlin at Fantasyland? I loved the hoedown, got to memorize the song while a CM, now I forgot it... :(

2) Grizzly, I guess you'd be the best to answer this, but how many shows are there on CBJ? I've seen the Xmas one, and the one I think is the standard, on which the first song is that "Real Old Country Rhythm".

I don't know about the Frontierland HoeDown, but there are 3 versions of the CBJ, the Christmas version, the "standard" version, and the Vacation Hoedown. The Vacation hoedown hasn't played in WDW since about 1993 (if I remember correctly), but it I believe it was the what played regularly in the Disneyland CBJ. The Christmas version plays during the CHristmas season (obviously) :animwink:

By the way, the opening song of the "standard" CBJ is called "The Bear Band Serenade"

So clap you're hands and stomp your feet and try to keep right with 'em. The one sure thing the Bear Band's got is Good Ol' County Rhythm!

Yeah, at DL the Vacation Hoedown played right up until close.

They all are great shows. I can't wait to see it at WDW in JUNE!!!

Yes, he is correct...there are 3 shows. The Vacation Hoedown, though, is rumored to return to WDW this summer (props have been seen backstage). Whether it will be done or not, I don't know yet. The props were seen left in the rain the other day... :(

Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Oh man! I've been waiting to telleverybody about this! Yes, they still do that show. I had never even heard of it until last Saturday morning. I figured I'd watch, since I wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere. Naturally I was forced..... I mean....... chosen to dance in the show. (Luckily I'm a dancer!) They now call me "Shakin' Marcia". I also got to hang out with one of the (grizzlyhall: please read) three country bears in the show. Yup, it was fun!

Frontierland Hoedown is still there... god knows I did that show enough from 12/00-7/01. It's an interactive dance show w/ 4 country bears (Liverlips, Shaker, Wendell, Big Al.. if a bear needs to go elsewhere, Big Al is usually the first to go).

hell.. I still remember the line dance..

walk, walk
heel, heel
heel, heel
step and touch
walk to the right
SLAP YOUR KNEE
walk to the left
TURN AND CHUG..

it's a fun show, and it's kinda funny watching the 3 year olds trying to keep up with the cast during the show.

I hope that they bring the "Frontierland Hoedown" back for the Christmas season--I love it and it's SOOOOO MUCH better/superior, more fun and more intereactive than the "Main Street Trolley Parade" that they're doing in it's place right now!

A cast member in Frontierland called the Magic Kingdom's entertainment department for me when I was at that park earlier this month and they said that the Hoedown is seasonal and that it might return for Christmas...or by Summer 2003 at least.

I'm confident that they'll soon discontinue the Trolley Parade and bring back the Hoedown.

The park needs the Hoedown. For one thing, it adds "atmosphere" to the Frontierland area and it's certainly one of the best of the Magic Kingdom's "minor" entertainment highlights/offerings.

I've never seen the hoedown. I saw some props for it backstage, and several performers "crossing the line" (haha, it's so funny), but I really have to see it sometime.

As for the Vacation Hoedown, I think here's what happened.

(1) The Vacation Show premieres in CA. One theater is the vacation show, one is the original show.

(2) The Vacation Show premieres in Fl.

(3) Guests want the original show, so they send the Vacation props to CA to use in the other theater.

(4) One of the sets is destroyed in the rain

(5) The other set is being sent to Walt Disney World piece by piece, and may finally be all in by next summer.

I am not sure, but this is the only way I see it working...

Grizzlyhall, I was referring to the "Frontierland Hoedown" live show that they've done on the streets of Frontierland for the last couple of years...NOT the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown.

I also want to see the Vacation Hoedown in Florida again...as a seasonal offering.

the howedown was done everyday in Fl at around 5pm all summer'02....have not seened it at all recently...on nights that we close at 6...Frontierland is a goast town (no pun...ok maybe a little..intended) by that time anyway.....

Well, I'm sure that they'll perform the Hoedown on days that the park closes "late" at least.

The Christmas season isn't that far behind now...the park will be open "late" just about every night during that time...and hopefully they'll be able to staff the Hoedown.

In addition, it would probably be a bad idea to run the "Main Street Trolley Parade" when they finally finish "holiday-izing" Main Street--it would probably clash with the holiday look and feel of the Main Street area and be out of place with all the holiday stuff around.

Hope the cast returns soon.

What are they rehearsing for? The Christmas parades and shows maybe?

What do you mean by "whatnot"?

whatnot mean they're cast in other shows/parades on property. I'm sorry to tell you this, but Hoedown was never really a big priority in WDW Entertainment...
