Must have been a slow news day for ABC. This has been noted since the movie came out. But they do it properly in the stage version, though (unfortunately, they also changed most of the rest of the song, too).

Hehe! Thanks for posting this link - it made me laugh! But actually, I always thought they said it wrong too. Because when she says it backwards, she starts off by saying, 'docious' - which isn't in reverse at all!
Hmm... hope that made sense! :)

Wow people actually thought she was saying it backwards? It's always been obvious to me that she just jumbled the word up for that part.

Thank you for sharing! Mary Poppins is by far my favorite movie. I am glad to see anything about it. Very cool ABC news!
I went to see it in NYC and they do say it correctly in the Broadway version, which I love! And I even LOVE their rendition of the song. That moment in the play is so EXCITING to watch!

The Funny thing is that the Sherman Brothers have confirmed the "reverse" in the film to just be the syllables reversed, not the word. When they re-visited the song to make the London (and later New York) West End/Broadway show, they did change that line, and on the original London Cast Recording, it's correctly done.

Just an FYI.

Haha, I noticed that when I heard it on one of my Disney's Greatest CD's. What she really does is divide the word into groups of 2 syllables, then says them normally, starting from the end and going backwards. But instead of ending with super, she says "rupus"
