I know all about River Country and Discovery Island and other past attractions that were abandoned for sometime but fixed up later but are there any places/rides/structures inside the actual parks that are still abandoned today ?

It is my understanding that Epcot still has a few.

There are several pieces of attractions left in the old Wonders of Life pavilion and I believe that parts of Food Rocks exist behind a wall somewhere around Soarin.

Wasn't the food rocks stage cleared out when they extended the queue recently ?

Yeah, with the recent addition of the third Soarin' theater, I doubt that any of Food Rocks is left. I was never a fan of Food Rocks, but I quite enjoyed Kitchen Kabaret and always hate to lose an attraction that features animatronics.

For a long time, the Tomorrowland Skyway station was still around. The lower level of it still exists, since it contained bathrooms. Aside from Epcot, which is huge, I just don't think there's room in MK to leave anything that isn't being used. When they remodel these days, it tends to involve heavy construction. I doubt we'll see much there for a while, since they just finished Fantasyland a few years ago. Tomorrowland just needs gutted or renamed at this point, though. (Aside from Carousel of Progress. Again, I'm an animatronics nerd.)

I doubt there will be anything left of the attractions in the area of DHS that is currently being turned into Star Wars/Pixar Land either. I'm sure some little bits and pieces of props, etc. will show up in the theming, though, as the Imagineers tend to like to have nods to former attractions.

Discovery river docks are still around AK, remnants of the ft. Wilderness railroad are still there if you know where to look, Epcot has a lot of buildings that are near abandoned but not completely (wonders of life, odessey, imagination, show buildings for attractions that weren't built in World Showcase). There's a boneyard on a service road by Epcot as well. Those are all the major ones I know of.

No kidding? Exploring Ft. Wilderness sounds like something to put on the list for the next trip.

It isn't exactly abandoned, but the Tangaroa Terrace building at the Polynesian used to house a restaurant. Part of it is now the kid's club and laundromat, I think. The rest is used for private events, but sits quiet and unvisited for most of the year. Inside, it is (or was, the last time I checked) still a great place to visit a lot of lonely and wonderful carvings.

Yep, over by the dog park the embankment is extremely clear, and the bridge foundations are still in the brush. Over by the settlement, near the golf cart parking by the bus station the embankment is also clear and goes into the woods. And again through one of the camping areas (I can't remember the name of the street) where the embankment and ties are still there and it's fairly easy to walk it through the woods back out to the settlement.

These were taken in 2013. Didn't take any photos in the "wilderness" portion sadly, didn't really want to get caught hiking. But there was a tree growing through the ties.

Last I heard, River Country and Discovery Island are still abandoned, not fixed up--unless you have some info that I missed. If so, tell me please! I'd love to know what they are doing with those places!

They will sit like they are until they decide to build something on the site.
