Abandoned Toontown- eerie to think about, isn't it?

Edit: My apologies, I heard from a source Toontown was closed down for the expansion but it seems I was wrong. Will Toontown be shut down in the future for the expansion or are they going to keep it up and running?

FYI, Toontown Fair is still open and operating. It won't close for a while, and Disney hasn't announced an official date for closure.

And when it does close, it's not going to stay "abandoned" very long. The bulldozers will come in just as soon as WDI gets in there and removes anything they want to keep.

I just got done looking at the new Aerial photos of the Fantasyland expansion and I wanted to bring up just a fun and eerie little point. Basically Toontown is now nothing but a ghost town- a once happy, cheerful little village with Mickey and Minnies House, the fair tent, the barnstorm, it's all just sitting there unoccupied. Such a fun and happy little place just alone and vacant. If anyone at all has any photos of Toontown in it's vacant state, please share though I doubt anybody can get way back there now that the walls are up. Toontown will always have a place in our hearts though I must say I am far more excited about the expansion :)
I was just there yesterday, and Toontown was still open. Has it been closed since then?
Edit: Nevermind.

Hmm... my friend just came back from the Disney College program and she was explaining to me that they were in the process of shutting down Toontown. If it's still open then that's a relief to me because I wanted to visit one more time before they removed it. My apologies folks, I recieved my info from a cast member but this just proves I shouldn't trust everything I hear. Are they going to remove it for the expansion in the future then, or are they keeping it?

I work in Fantasyland (east side), which shares CMs with Toontown, and can tell you that Toontown is still up and running, and will be for a while. It's definitely closing, but there's no set date right now.

I personally hope to see a re-imagined Toontown elsewhere in WDW. Be it on the site of the Tomorrowland Speedway(that'd be my dream!), or in say, Hollywood Studios as a new area. It'll be such a shame to see Mickey and Minnie's houses go bye bye. Obviously the WDW Toontown doesn't stack up in comparison to Disneyland's, but it could if re-thought out, and a few new attractions and dark rides were added.

They should add Chip and Dale's tree house :3

You think? That's sort of the weakest/smallest of the Character's houses at Disneyland's Toontown. You just sort of walk in, go up a flight of stairs out on to the balcony, and then walk back down an exterior staircase.

A 5 minute long interactive dark ride like Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin would seem to be a higher priority for Magic Kingdom than the small Treehouse.

Yes! I wish they would! Chip n Dale's treehouse would be amazing for a C & D nut like me. Esp if they make it like the Rescue Rangers headquarters. Course that show is now 10 years old...

More like 20. I think it debuted in 1989. (I know it makes me feel old.) :dazzle:
