We saved about $30 on 7-day parkhoppers one year, and then roughly $60 when we purchased our APs (both non-FL resident). But, we have always been longtime AAA members, so using the WDW discounts was just gravy for us. We haven't had to use AAA much, but we've always been glad to have it when needed.....

It isn't that much actually; like 10% or something like that off of your room only. We are members of CAA up here and did end up joining because we were booking all of our trips through them. That, and the peace of mind knowing that if something happens to the vehicle while my wife is on her way to work in the States each night, CAA will come out and get her on the road safely again. We pay just over $100 a year for our membership and probably save a couple hundred, if that, by booking our WDW trip through them. But we usually end up using one of Disney's discounts or PIN codes in the end each time anyways.

For me it's worth it. For 16 nights next July, we saved about $1,000 with a AAA discount at the Polynesian. Of course, if we get an AP discount that would be better, but this is better than nothing.

AAA discounts vary, but in general I think it is worth it to be a member just for the sake of it. Also know that AAA discounts can be booked through Disney CRO, not just through AAA agents, and in several instances the discount was better when booked directly through Disney.

AAA discounts are good in that they are released shortly after the room rates for any given year are released which is usually in August. The amounts vary based on hotel and season of your trip, but in almost every case the discount offered by Disney for packages has been better by a lot than the discount offered by AAA initially.
Room only discounts can be booked by you directly through Disney or by your favorite travel agent on your behalf, however packages must be booked through AAA only.
I have AAA and have great peace of mind for driving my car especially long distances, but I wouldnt join it exclusively for the Disney discounts. Marie

The room discounts are 10-35% depending on the season and resort level. There are also other hotel and restaurant discounts around the country and of course the auto stuff, which I've always had GREAT service for. If you go to Universal at all there's a 10% AAA discount at "select" food and merchandise locations.

It's funny because the thing we use our CAA membership the most for is movie passes. :ROFLOL:We go to our local CAA and pick up what is called the "Night Out" pass, which gets you two adult tickets for the movie, two drinks and a popcorn. It works out to be a good deal, and you can even use them for the newer, 3D movies by paying $3 more at the ticket window.

I can only answer about FL Resident APs, and for those the discount is modest - maybe $11 or $12 on a $300+ ticket. Although this year they added something new. In addition to the discount we got $6 worth of "AAA Bucks", which they accumulate and put towards your membership renewal. Woo hoo!

What I've always done is book first through AAA, and get the 10-35% discount on room only (depending on season and resort level), and then if Disney comes out with a better deal. I call up my AAA agent and she'll adjust our reservation to the better deal.
That way I know that I'll at least save a $300-$400 on our 10 day trips, and it's well worth the $50 annual membership fee.

There are a few other perks when booking through AAA as well; my daughter loves the AAA story time. You can also get preferred viewing of a parade, as well as discounts on certain tours, activities and merchandise. We've always been really happy when booking through AAA.

That's correct. Before we decided to start staying on property we would just purchase our tickets thru AAA. There was a decent discount, not sure the breakeven point though. It all depends on how many people were in your party. And you can still get the tour & some activity discounts, just flash your AAA card.

I too always booked through AAA before becoming a dvc member. It always ended up saving us about $200 off the lowest price disney's CRO quoted. Plus you get a couple perks like free preferred parking at the
parks. More than pays for itself ($50 for me annually)

There are a lot more discounts offered by AAA than just WDW, which make it totally worth it, IMO (not to mention the peace of mind while on the road).

When I go to my local outlet mall, I can get a free discount coupon book, with which I can save a bundle. Also, there is a significant discount at Lenscrafters--last time we bought new glasses, we saved over $300 (on 2 eye exams and 2 pairs of glasses).

Can you use your AAA membership to get a discount on park tickets?

On AAA's site it leads you to believe you can, but if you go through the process of buying tickets; the price comes out to exactly the same as Disney's site.

So I assumed you couldn't.

Hi Duke, My understanding is that it does have a slight discount for tickets. I understand that if you go through the process it comes out the same as Disney's prices, but perhaps you didnt include the tax in Disney's? Also keep in mind, I know that some of the AAA offices only sell certain ticket combinations and dont have a discount on the others. Perhaps that is the problem you are running into? I would contact them directly to confirm this information and see if there is a benefit on perhaps another ticket configuration you could take advantage of. Good luck!! Marie

Exactly. Check out AAA.com to see what other discounts you can use. Most times you can save more than the cost of the lowest level plan.

As far as WDW benefits there is the 10% discount on tickets and when you purchase a package preferred parking, the diamond card (which offers discounts at some retailers- including World of Disney, recreation, tours and certain restaurants. Each year they usually offer a package benefit such as story telling or preferred viewing for a parade. I almost forgot- festive luggage tags.

Another thing I almost forgot, if you are looking to purchase a vacation pacakage through AAA, you do not have to be a member. If you are purchasing tickets or room-only, you do have to be a current member.

It's a great deal I saved over $600 on my trip. Plus you also recieve a discount on many of the parks tours too.
