How big is your group? Disney automatically adds a tip to the bill for any group over 6 people. This includes infants (less than 3yo).

this is another reason why these threads seem to go on for ever..

but what tends to happen with big groups, is the server usually gets stiffed.. especially when people are splitting the bills.. someone always short pays, and it ends up with a small tip..

I agree. Also, when using the Tables in Wonderland card, you get an 18% discount, but an 18% tip is automatically added. Yeah, you can reduce it if you talk to a manager, but you have to cause such a scene that it's really not worth it.

Just think of it as 18% across the board. If you encounter terrible service then speak to management. Otherwise the worrying will just mar the trip.

No, you will have to pay that after the meal. We are also a party of 6 and what we have done in the past. So, if you are on the DDP, you will see what the whole meal would have cost had you paid in out of pocket, but you will need to leave only the tip.

I don't agree with this. 15% is on the low side of the acceptable range. ZERO is the tip to give for poor service. If a waitperson isn't doing his/her job, why should I then cough up anything for poor service?

Zero tip is extreme, and should be reserved for extreme circumstances, which are exceedingly rare.

My advice: don't take your "opinion of the service" so seriously. Assume 15-20% at every meal. If service is exceptionally bad, which is rare, less. If service is exceptionally good, more at your discretion.

If service is so bad you would consider a zero tip then ask for a manager too.

Also don't forget that there are other people that expect tips. If the coach driver lifts your bags out the hold for you, a dollar per person. Bell Services bringing bags, a dollar per bag/person. Bartenders, at least a dollar per drink.

I also tip in the 20% range depending on service for drinks. Bartenders get paid about the same as servers.

Yes I suppose generally on most beers $1 is around a 20% tip, but for cocktails it should be $2-3 and even more if its waited service for a special drink.
