Trip Report A Very Delsym Disney!

This is my VERY first trip report so be prepared...it may suck :)
I did a pre-trip report but it was very lame and basically only consisted of me whining every hour or so during my last 2 days at work. You can read it here if you want...
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/i-am-trying-to-can-right-now-but-literally-cant.904881/
but like I said...lame.

First let me give you a rundown of our trip attendees :)
Me - Jenn 40, (we left to drive down on my big 4 0 :))
My hubby, Tom 43
My mom, Leona 61
My oldest daughter, Robin 21
My youngest daughter, Willow 16
And My son, Shade 6

This trip was literally our first family vacation in 10 years to the date! We arrived at WDW on 9/18/2005 and arrived this time on 9/18/2015 :). We are from Chicago and moved to Lexington, KY 9 years ago...my mom followed us shortly after. Since then we have used every hour of PTO to go home and visit with family. This year we were greedy and used it for ourselves lol. Our countdown started at 477 days and it actually didn't take as long as I had expected it to. I wish I would have made a better pre-trip report because I planned the heck out of this vacation and it would have been fun to document...oh well, next time :)

I am at work so I will try to post as much as I can when I can and I will try really hard not to ramble and/or be too boring :)

To be continued...

It felt like it took forever to clean and I'm still not even sure I got all the glass after vacuuming 3 times with 2 different vacuums. I will be paranoid for at least the next week. Hoping to get some time in a few hours to post some more :)

Day Six - 9/22/2015...Part One Continued

Once we finished our Dole Whips Shade stopped to watch the Captain Jack Sparrow thing. He didn't want to participate at all at first so he didn't even give them the option to pick him as one of the lucky four that got to go up and spar but he did show interest towards the end and happily hopped up there to grab his scroll.
He has the zombie shirt and pants on, standing right in front of Jack...

I am so annoyed with myself at this point. I really hate the lack of continuity in this trip report with the picture posting issues and now this...I forgot to mention that on our first day at MK my husband was the guy that got hypnotized during the Monsters, Inc Laugh Floor thing. I was so nervous because he is really kind of an introvert and I was afraid he would be super grumpy over it. He really surprised me though and played along pretty well. I told him that's kind of what he gets for being the big muscle-y meat head...he had to know he would be singled out lol.

Ok so back on track, (I hope).

Day Six - 9/22/2015...Part Two

So by this time we needed to head back over to Fantasy land for our lunch ADR at Be Our Guest. We pre-ordered our food like a couple of weeks prior so all we had to do basically was check in, grab a seat and grab our drinks. I actually got a hot chocolate when we first got there and my family thought I was nuts but I was just in the mood for it lol. We made sure to snap some pics of the place too. I ordered the Croque Monsieur which was really good! My husband got the Roast Beef Sandwich, Willow got the Turkey Sandwich and my mom and Robin both got the Quiche. Between the 6 of us we tried all the desserts we cared to try. Everyone really like their food and dessert!

I only grabbed a few pics on my phone before I had to charge it. I will upload more from my camera at home later.

After lunch we hopped in the super short line for some Peter Pan pics...
WoFljoUlyofzPs-yR1JqdHxGaDCY5RMxYYvTfO8Z-MzmicP4UgOTnj8yCDXjxZJRT-JQkNoku26Gcyg6Hv0M7P61OyGW4RR9fBHwv5CrJcKiIpaercZ0hxAixmWikdQlp-_syi3l-2BIivMtl9mu__Fq9Z3pxb8gT-SY_1Pz7jTDLSF1rxIUADVMHLpX2nI5Huj973Lnl9efFLALthiXC1Qaxs1dSTuTR5bEgQ8BMkcbJJCEsMyGRHJWcN0wx5D8taIbsCNQTvUKTRJqCIGLPyJZkijV5h-czy2MIk6YnQ4K8347VnB-KkZJg5cSUyWVn-QjgO3EFiqEFFObL2gyFF61NkglGmIpEuqGW1phZn2SVV24CK1tpcrnVxgeWLD78JVXi4le4y5h2nT1gLgWYZzULtdY6B1knWVCN08shylFGbmgVEri-yWSRlt2SyuDu4qpkqGZIHJPfgE1j4R9u91xirvpEW_abmntULL8XEQnVy_MFOfQoXRjkSn1Fr_LrE75f1AyOs5TSM8hqZSboYuefGHz2ONL2SJLSMLF_Lg=w1280-h854-no

After the Peter Pan pics we hopped in the also super short, (nonexistent) line for Little Mermaid. We then hopped in line to meet Gaston because he was due to come back out in like 10 minutes. We didn't stay though because the cast member cut/stopped the line right in front of us and asked us to move back a bit so the bathroom doors weren't blocked. This made sense except other guests didn't realize and kept cutting in line in front of us. None of us cared enough about meeting Gaston to say anything to anyone so we left. However before we left we were told by a cast member cleaning the bathrooms that we should get in line for Jack Skellington at about 5 because most of the times he comes out earlier than he should to meet the demand. She also stated that we should definitely ask about this when we get our wristbands for the party because she wasn't 100% sure. We took note of this and will get back to that in a minute.

At this point we started to make our way to Frontierland for our 2 remaining FPs. We stopped for Haunted Mansion and I also stopped at the Momentum Mori shop to get one of those cool "look, I'm dead" pictures. It is pretty cool but it kind of took a little longer than I hoped, (I am probably the world's most impatient human). After it was finished Shade said he wanted one but that really creeped me out so I was like "yea, no...sorry". We didn't do much else in Liberty Square and I felt kind of bad because my mom LOVES the Hall of Presidents. I. Hate. It. But I did have every intention of coming back to it and then stuff just happened so we didn't. I seriously do feel really bad about it though. We also didn't do Country Bears...which I am not sad about either but I feel as if the day was kind of incomplete without those two things. But again...stuff happened...

So by now it was time for Big Thunder Mtn and Splash Mountain. These were big hits with everyone...of course Shade wanted to ride again immediately lol. We needed to get our wristbands at this point though. So we get in line and I ask the first cast member what time Jack comes out and she said "The party starts at 7". I am thinking okaaaaayyyyy but does he come out earlier? So now we get to the cast member slapping our wrist bands on. She tells us "The party starts at 7". I think okay...so 7 it is...line up about 6...we're good to go. But just to be sure I ask the cast member handing out the bags..."Does Jack come out earlier than 7?". He states..."The party starts at 7". I quit at this point - 7 it is..in line @ 6. We poke around doing random things, ride the train full circle, peruse the circus gift shop, ya know we got time! It's not until we are done paying for our items that we ask..."where do we line up for Jack?"...she replies by telling us where to go and adds "You'll see the line...he's been out since about 5:45 - he comes out early to meet the demand". What. The. Youknowwhat. THREE people! I asked 3 different people!! I cannot...I mean do you know how long we were in line? TWO HOURS. I read stuff, I did my homework but nothing prepared me for a 2 hour wait to meet Jack and Sally. I felt like I had majorly dropped the ball.
Needless to say Willow and I waited and waited while Shade, Robin and Tom went off to ride 7DMT over and over again and my mom did who knows what but it wasn't even Hall of Presidents because it wasn't running during the party. I cannot say it was worth it. I like Jack but ugh. The end.

Just kidding...I will leave you with that for now and hopefully get to post the remainder of day 6 later :)

Day Six - 9/22/2015...Part Three

I have been so busy at work and when I finally do have time to write I started to get a little writer's block.

So after waiting in line forever to see Jack we met up with the rest of the family. I REALLY wanted to see the first parade because after what happened with Shade our first night at MK I was afraid we wouldn't make it to see the last. Robin and my husband said that there were already TONS of people lined up and they doubted we would even find a spot. I didn't care though TBH because again, I felt it may be first parade or no parade. So we headed on over. It was SOOOOOOO crowded - oh em gee. We actually found a spot just baaaaarely inside the tape. I mean it was so bad that my back and legs hurt once the parade was over because I literally could not shift my weight from one leg to the other because of course once the parade started it was "tape shmape" as far as people were concerned and I became part of a Jenn sandwich because people were coming up behind me and almost violating me lol. It was worth it though because we had only shorties in front of us so we could see everything. The only thing that kind of disappointed me was the fact that the Headless Horseman came out literally 15 minutes before the parade started. Don't forget this was my first party so I was not expecting him that soon and so of course there were no pics for me :(

Once the parade was over Robin really wanted to see the Villain's show but no one else cared too much about that so she headed off to the castle and the rest of us headed over to Casey's Corner for food because we were starving. I wished I had my camera/phone with me while I was inside ordering but I had left it with my mom who was looking for a spot to sit. I wanted to take a pic of the spot I assume the cheese sauce was kept...I have read a lot about how so many of you miss the cheese sauce lol. I would have like it too because I really do not like the skinny fries and it would have been a nice way to help them down :) Robin finally made her way back to us and grabbed a bite for herself...while she ate we all watched Hallowishes which we had a pretty nice view of so that was a bonus!

After we stuffed our faces we went back into the shops and grabbed the stuff we had to ditch the first night when Shade went berserk. I had considered trying to wait it out to catch the Headless Horseman the second time around but thought better of it and we decided to head out while Shade was still conscious and well behaved. Once we got back to the resort Tom and I dropped off my mom and the kids and headed back to Walgreen's to grab some more Delsym and other cold meds. I guess my husband wasn't satisfied with the results he was getting with the Delsym so he bought some Mucinex too. Once we had what we needed we headed back to get some rest for the next day. I feel like I'm forgetting something lol...

The kids in their glow ears. Oh yea - we were all in costume t-shirts for the party. Except for my husband who never ended up changing because who knows why lol. I actually changed while in line for Jack...I am talented like that. I don't have any pics though because I am not posting any of the Jack meet and greet because I look greasy and atrocious and other than this one below that's all that was taken of any of us. Robin was Captain America, Willow was Rocket Raccoon, Shade was Spiderman, my mom was Thor, Tom was The Hulk and I was Deadpool.

Boo to You Parade...Chernabog is my favorite. Sidenote...I used to have a statue of him that lit up. I mean it was good quality stuff, wasn't cheap. I loved that statue. Except too many people who had no idea who he was would look at me like I was some sort of devil worshiper when they would visit...it even embarrassed the kids so I finally gave it to my uncle who loves it. Plus he doesn't give 2 poops what anyone cares so it's a win/win I guess...well maybe not for me who no longer has it but whatever, you get my point.

Day Seven - 9/23/2015...Part One, Animal Kingdom

We ended up sleeping a little too long this day. I mean it wasn't a major loss - we ended up getting to the park at the normal opening time and missing the EMH. At the time I didn't think it was too awful but by the end of the day I was bummed because we didn't get to do everything. We had FP for Kilimanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest. When we first got to the park we started to poke around the Discovery Island Trails, watched It's Tough to be a Bug!, the girls stopped to meet Dug and Russel and by then we were kind of starving. We decided to grab lunch at Flame Tree. It was pretty good...except for the beans. I hated the beans. I like sweet BBQ stuff and they were not sweet...they were more along the tangy side in my opinion. Everything else was good and the kids were almost more entertained by the ducks and birds that were roaming around the dining area than other animals they saw throughout the day lol.
By the time we finished eating it was time for our first FP at Kilimanjaro Safaris. This was kind of the beginning to the end in regards of time lost. Starting the day before, (9/22) my mom had to start renting an ECV. She was REALLY bummed about it but did not have much of a choice...she's older now, may even need a hip and/or knee replacement, etc. and she tried really hard the first part to fight the pain and power through but she just couldn't anymore. So anyway, she's on the ECV and she goes up to one of the cast members and asks them where the best place to park it was so she could go on the ride. The cast member tells her she doesn't need to park it and that she can take it through the special side of the line and park it up front. She was all like "okay but I can walk in the lines" and he was all like "no, no, no...no need for that :)". So she takes the ECV into the special line, we get all the way up until there's like maybe 15/20 people in front of us and we just stop and wait....and wait....

and wait...

I promise you I am not exaggerating when I say we were waiting for at least 45 minutes. At. Least. I do not know what the problem was. I am assuming after seeing what was going on once we got up front that if persons 1 and 2 in line could not transfer out of their wheelchairs/ECVs the rest of the linhad to wait behind them. Which meant the line was just stopped until the wheelchair accessible vehicle(s) rolled back around. That and the fact that there was one girl working this side of the line and after each set of people got off she would then move all of the wheelchairs/ECVs up to the now empty spaces and so on and so forth. I feel like she could have used help and there should have been a better system in place TBH. Oh well...the ride was still good and we actually got to see some active elephants playing in the water, baby giraffes, swimming hippos...it was worth it :)
After KS we stopped at the Harambe Market and grabbed some drinks. We grabbed a couple of pops to share and Willow wanted the watermelon lemonade. I was super jealous because that stuff was so tasty and I wanted to snatch it from her lol. I should have just grabbed another for myself but I hate carrying cups and felt we had too many as it was. After we chugged our drinks we went through the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail...Shade really loved getting the laminated info sheets and trying to spot all the birds. There were also 2 baby gorillas that were SO FREAKING CUTE, I WANT ONE!!!! We kind of rushed through this though because we knew at this point we would not get to do everything. I had to tell my mom at this point that if she really wanted to see the Festival of the Lion King she would have to venture off alone because we had FPs we needed to catch and no one else wanted to see it...I felt bad but I didn't want to not give her the option knowing she missed Hall of Presidents at MK :( But I also didn't want to be like "sorry , kids...can't get to the other FPs because grandma wants to see this show". I know...you think I am a hateful B word now :( She was okay with it though and was all "bye, felica" and went off to see her show. We really wanted to visit some of the Rafiki's Planet Watch stuff but we had to get going to our next FP. We swore we would come back to all of it if we had time but we never made it back. I know Push the garbage can is gone, but we had such good memories here of him harassing my husband on our trip in '05.
On our way to our Kali FP we were able to stop and meet Baloo and King Louie since the line was pretty short so that was a bonus. Kali River Rapids is always fun but it felt so short this time. I wanted to go again but the line was so long and we had zero time to spare. We had just enough time to make our way through the Maharajah Jungle Trek before our last FP at EE, but we were all bummed because not only were the tigers sleeping, they were no where to be seen...booooo. It was really funny at this point because we could hear the screams of people riding Expedition Everest and so Shade said to me "Mommy, I want to ride that, it sounds like fun". When I told him that's where we were headed, he made sure to be clear by saying "I want to ride the one that's making people scream". I just thought it was funny since I was so stressed for the whole year leading up to this vacation, afraid he wouldn't want to try anything and here he was all ready to scream. He ended up really liking it and fortunately once we got off the stand by line was only around 15 minutes so we went on again.
At this point we headed over to Dinosaur. In '05 Robin was 12 and got off this ride in tears. No lie. So she felt this was her redeeming moment. Someone handed us a paper FP thing that I didn't even know existed and so she used it to go on a second time with my mom just to prove a point haha. While they were doing that SHade and Willow met Safari Donald. After Dinosaur we rode TriceraTop Spin and then shopped a bit at Chester and Hester's. Then it was literally closing time.

Next up...back to Epcot for an ADR at The Garden Grill...
