I just finished watching Moana...

 it hit all the feels, and now I want go watch it again.

Imo its on par with Zootopia and the other classics. However I noticed that its had similar undertones to Pocahontas/Brother Bear and the Firebird short.

Also saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and I was pretty letdown as it wan't as fun as I expected. My dad fell asleep while watching it, but hey the Beasts were pretty fantastic :D
I have a feeling that Moana is going to be the new Frozen...just a feeling. :p

Also Fantastic Beasts was meh...which was disappointing because I wanted to like it. Harry Potter is successful because of Harry Potter. So when you take him and the beloved characters away, it wasn't the same for me. That being said, surprisingly I'm more looking forward to the sequels just based on the direction they may go - which would tie more closely with characters from the books.

Harry Potter is successful because his story is a dynamic mystery series with deep layered characters, influences from older stories (Albus Dumbledore and the Drink of Despair has antecedents in alchemical text where a king drinks a green liquid and cries out for help in the darkness, but is never rescued. He ends up dying but in the light of dawn comes back in the form of a phoenix), and has a wonderful dichotomy in every book.
Agreed. I didn't see any of that in Fantastic Beasts though :p-- imho

.
I hope so! It's a much better movie than Frozen anyway :p (Until the day they try to shoehorn it into the Jungle Cruise that is...:depressed::p)
What I love is how it captures the same sense of adventure in one of my other favorites, Finding Nemo, but with the incredible musical charm of classic WDAS. 'Twas great!

I prefer Shiny, but to each there own ;):p:D

Oddly enough Shiny was probably my least favorite in the movie :p

Not so much that I didn't like the song, but more so just because I didn't like the actual scene. It felt forced to me, whereas all of the other songs of the movie were a lot more organic with the story. That said, the crab guy (I forgot his name! Tituana? Something like that?) was still hilarious :p

Goodness gracious :p That better not happen.
Let's not be ridiculous, it'll be shoehorned into the Enchanted Tiki Room it already has a Polynesian aesthetic

:eek::rolleyes::p

I actually really liked the scene, and its one of my favorites of the film :hilarious: However I really wished they explored more of the Realm of Monsters and if there's a sequel or tv show to have more or Tamatoa. I'm not sure why, but I really liked him

Maybe I like it so much because it is so odd fitting:p:D

I saw Moana last night... Wow! It was fantastic. Great characters and voice work, beautiful animation and wonderful music. Let me break apart what I liked:

1. The Story: It was simple and easy to follow. But, it had a lot of emotional weight and made me feel invested in the characters.
2. The Characters/Voice Work: LOVED the acting in this film and the characters that they portrayed.
3. Auli'i Cravalho: She was fantastic as Moana, especially being only 14 years old at the time of recording lines/music.
4. The Music: Lin Manuel Miranda and the rest of the team did a fantastic job. I'd say all of the songs except one flowed extremely well.

Now what I didn't like:
1. Shiny: This song was gross in my opinion. Sure, it was a cool "villain song" but it didn't exactly make me feel emotional either against or for the crab because of the passive nature of the song.
2. The realm of monsters scene also felt extremely out of place and a very sudden departure from the Polynesian aesthetic of the movie.

Overall though, I thought the movie was fantastic and I'm still listening to the soundtrack on repeat. It's so catchy. :D

That hook shaped island near the Japan area at Epcot looks like it could work to be cheaply themed after something to do with some Pacific Islands and make sense geographically.

How about Disney changes the vegetation to something that makes more sense for a Pacific Ocean island if it doesn't already and puts something from Moana on the island that's only easily visible by boat ride and can't be seen form the coastline of the Japan or USA areas? They might have to build up the island so it's shaped more like a hill with stuff only on one side of the hill. They could put some little Kakamora on the island maybe even animatronic ones if they wouldn't break easily. They could say the like the island because it's similar in shape to Maui's hook. Or they could have a replica of Maui's hook on the island and say Maui left it there because it looked similar in shape. Or they could just not mention the shape of the island.
