A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

Exactly. They're gonna have to spend, spend, spend. And at the end of the day, CCP gets their headlines for more employed workers, while Universal is left crawling because the park will open either under mountain of debt, or tremendously underbuilt.

A big price tag doesn't mean squat in China in terms of actual scale.

Bear in mind, the Xinhua article that claimed the park got a massive boost also said the park would attract an estimated 100 million visitors a year, or double WDW. I don't even have words for the nonsense the CCP cooks up.

1. Universal owns 45% of the park but only putting 3 billion into it...its the CCP that is putting 12 billion into the park. So no it won't be Universal carrying a mountain of debt.

2. Shanghai Disney costed 5 billion. At at 15 billion dollar price tag for the full resort, that is the opposite of cheaping out or under building.

The Chinese would be insulted, no offense.

Once again, I ask if you can really trust those figures. Unless it came directly from Universal, which it didn't, I can only laugh my butt off when I read these news reports. "Journalists" 🙄.

Truly, please question these articles. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And when it's coming from the CCP, it definitely is. I've seen your posts on the boards before, and I know the allegiance you hold for Universal, which is fine by me, just try not to let your passion for the company blind you from common sense.

Also, if you would, please point me to an article or documentation that claims Universal is paying $3 billion towards the resort. Thanks.

Edit: further, it was Steve Burke himself who said Universal would own between 30 and 40 percent of the park, where did you get 45?

Ok I could be wrong, but that looks like they just cut out the tram tour section of the LA backlot tour and stuck it in Orlando
Pretty much. It's sad, honestly. Like who approved this?
Forbidden Journey>>>Gringotts>>>>>>Kong>VBay>>>>>>Fallon>FF

Anyone else noticing the pattern here? I know supposedly better stuff is coming, but as of right now, what is happening at Universal Creative?!

Yeah, Orlando is different than Anaheim LOL - Orlando knows it is nothing without the theme parks as the main draw, versus Anaheim thinking its all that and that Disney isn't the house that built the town to begin with.
Florida is very much a pro-growth state and the land development patterns, and the Future Land Use Map, reflect that. It's less that Orlando never says no to development and more so that the area has been planned for development for a long, long time.

I know what you are saying, but I also think it is more of - not every attraction is going to be an "E" ticket. They are filling out their parks with smaller attractions. I would be curious if someone worked it out percentage wise major vs. minor attractions at Universal vs the WDW Parks. I think Universal would still be up on that comparison.

I understand what you're saying as well, but more recently their additions aren't just small, they're downright mediocre. And when it comes to FF, it's not even small. The FF show building is massive. They should've waited to put something worthwhile in that space.

We'll see how the Potter coaster turns out, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, except for that they reportedly cheaped out on what they built with shoddy construction.

That's simply 'How It's Done' in China, Look at the photos after EVERY earthquake in China, An earthquake which would break china and glassware and maybe cause an old building to collapse in LA, Has the effect of flattening an entire town/city in China because of the shoddy construction.

Beijing, the municipality, very aggressively courted Universal so as not be upstaged by Shanghai. As of right now it’s is probably still more likely to open versus joining Dubailand, Korea and Moscow.
Now that I think about it, why is Dubai suddenly getting or wanting theme parks? MotionGate opened in 2016 and years before that Universal was going to make it but left unfinished. Then again, I don't know much about Dubai and it's history with Theme and Amusement Parks.

It won't...its the same reason Paramount pulled out of the park in the UK...its can't be open all year long while maintaining a decent sized crowd.
So they close a couple days a week during the slow season. Disneyland did that too once.

Plus UNI can give British stories like HP and possibly LotR their theme park homecoming.
