Plus they are not going to get rid of most of Speedway for 1 spinning ride, themed to Pinocchio. Especially with Tron behind it and Cosmic Ray right in front of it. It makes no sense based on it's surroundings.
Well, I know something should be done with the Speedway, as it takes up a lot of space and is really quite a low-capacity ride. What's more, gas-powered cars don't really scream the future to me, especially with gas prices being the way they are now
Anyway, the only way that Pinocchio could physically fit in over at Storybook Circus is if it went in this spot that I once had considered for a Mickey ride that I was considering for that spot. I was even given a special, if somewhat crude, mockup of the track layout for the ride (which, by the way, does not interfere with the train tracks at all):
No offense, but I don't necessarily want to do a big, expensive E-ticket ride, as you seem to be hinting at, nor do I want to do a clone of Disneyland's Pinocchio ride, especially since it wouldn't fit in over there. I'm not sure how much a spinner would cost, but I'm pretty sure it's far less expensive than anything you seem to be suggesting.
You also had mentioned a copy of Alien Swirling Saucers (or at least the same technology), but I have yet to see a Disney resort with this same kind of concept at multiple parks. I'm pretty sure that's not cheap, either.
I want to try and have it be like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, in that it's not a direct dark ride duplicate. I really don't know how it could fit in Storybook Circus, however, and I certainly don't know what type of ride to do there. What's more, an Italian puppet just doesn't seem to fit in a predominantly American-looking circus.
Moreover, I don't want it to take over the Village Haus restaurant (let alone Small World) for one simple reason: it's already gone from Disneyland, having been rethemed as the Red Rose Tavern. There are also similar restaurants in Disneyland Paris (Au Chalet de la Marionnette) and Shanghai Disneyland (Pinocchio Village Kitchen). I want to try and preserve the restaurants as much as possible. If this restaurant was removed, that would only leave Paris and Shanghai, and I don't want that to happen.
That was the reason I was trying to put a spinner into the space where the bathrooms by the Village Haus are right now: so that it won't have to take over any other valuable space, it would physically fit (if a bit tightly), and it could be themed to Geppetto's workshop, which would actually compliment the theme of the Village Haus quite nicely. The ride would have been themed to one of Geppetto's newest toys you would ride on, which would have been themed to Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Figaro and Cleo, while in the center, there would be panels telling the story of the wooden puppet. It would have been the third in the Fantasyland spinners to show this off, after the Carrousel and Dumbo. Actually, it would be the fourth if I redid the teacups to include panels on the story of Alice In Wonderland (in the center with the teapot).
Anyway, I was deliberately trying to keep things more modest for several reasons: physical space, modest budget, minimal changes to other areas, and just wanting to do something different for a change. And the Speedway could be repurposed anew, although the transition from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland would still be just as jarring as ever. But that's another thread for another time.
