Trip Report A Not So Splashy, Very Dashy, Somewhat Sleepy and A Little Frisky, Uplyfting Sept 2018 TR (Completed!)

Once again, it is so hard to believe that our adventure in WDW is over. I don’t understand how time goes so fast when we are there. Even though this was our longest trip ever, it still flew by.

We returned home around midnight on Saturday and I’ve been getting back to reality and catching up on reading other TR’s before beginning my own.

Just in case you may not know us…

Me: Mary/mom

Ross – Dad AKA Grumpy, but was acting more like Sleepy on this trip. (And yes – those Crocs came along with him.)

Julia – DD Sweet 16 this trip

Hope – My 9 year old princess whose diagnoses of Autism usually lends itself to some interesting tidbits for my TR’s.

Trip details:

September 6th – 8th at Art Of Animation (Room only)

September 8th – 22nd Pop Century (MYW Package Free Dining)

Yep- that’s a LONG trip – our longest EVER. Still it managed to fly by in the blink of an eye.

If you’re not familiar with my crazy crew or you need to catch up, feel free to check out my pre trip report here:

Yup. Crazy. :hilarious: We’re doing a last minute no-kids trip in November and I tried to talk my hubby into Disney but round trip flights not even direct $600 each. So I lost that battle 😭. We did $440 round trip on our last trip and that was a steal.
There are $345 return non-stop flights in January... for which I'm continuously trying to remind myself I still can't afford.:arghh: But maybe your DH will feel like he needs another vacation by then... and that he really wants his sister-in-law to tag along :hilarious:

Oh I have no doubt it was because the party was not something we were "supposed" to do. Schedules can be both a blessing and a curse for us. I use a "somewhat" schedule with her. When she was younger, I had her more on a schedule. But I found having a strict schedule makes it difficult for her to break out of it. So as soon as I see her find a routine, I change things up so she doesn't get caught in it. That's why I think she changed her mind as soon as we were in the park and having a good time. I have a few friends that have very strict schedules with their kiddos and then when they need to change things, it can be tough.

Oh, yeah, we don't do a strict schedule. I just write up the school hours and the hours we're at work, and the time extra curriculars start, like his chess, or DD's musical theater, or my choir. I DON'T write in things like "game time" because that can change every day due to other activities. For me, it's just an outline so he can look and be reminded "Oh yeah....mommy has choir tonight."... more so he's not caught off guard. But the home help also said that the more that he feels secure like he knows what's coming, the more flexible he'll be. So it sounds like you are already way farther than we are...Hope can already be pretty flexible. We're just starting. I had one week when I forgot to fill out the whiteboard and DS had a really hard time that week.
Anyway, I'm glad she had such a great time at the party, even though she didn't want to go at first. I wish we could go at Halloween, because it looks like SO much fun!

My goodness, where are you from?? I live in Europe and $600 would be a steal for us, but I can't imagine anywhere in the US that would be that expensive for domestic flights. That's just crazy!!!

Canada! Haha so still international. If we do a 4 hour drive to North Dakota in the US we can find cheaper flights but with the exchange rate, gas, parking, etc it’s not usually worth it.

Thanks so much! It was truly amazing!! But don't worry, shenanigans will begin soon! lol Still bummed that I didn't plan better and try to meet up with you.

I’m bummed too! But we WILL meet one of these days. 😊

I absolutely HATE the Fairways course. 😂 Dylan made me play it once and I told him never again. If I wanted to golf, I’d go to a real golf course. I mini golf for the Disney decorations! 😋

You know I’m here for some shenanigans! 🙃 Anxiously awaiting Ross’s arrival and the return of the crocs. 😜

I know I'm behind in updating!! I hope to have another day posted soon.

As a side note... Jet Blue sent an e-mail for $31.00 flights on Halloween and Ross discovered that Orando was included. So he asked if I wanted to fly out with girls and spend the night at ASM and come home late the next day. He was astonished when I declined his offer. Have I gone mad turning down a whirlwind trip to Disney? He thinks so. The flights would have been free with our points and ASM was reasonanabe. I'm even pretty sure I could have easily talked him into a 2 night stay. But in the end, it just would have been too much. I'm still trying to regain a routine around here and the kids activities are in full swing. But then again, maybe I was nuts for turning that down!!

What I would do, to be able to just casually go spend a night at disney and come home!!
$1500 return each for us from Perth, Australia! And it always results in using all our holiday leave, and about a years worth of planning & saving
Wish i lived close enough to just get a $31 flight and stay the night haha!

Ah, that would do it, and I can't imagine North Dakota has great options...it's not a major destination like Chicago, Denver, LA...generally the big cities have cheaper flights. My home state (Wyoming) does not have an international airport, so whenever we want to go "home", we have to fly to Denver and then rent a car and drive. My brother lives 3-4 hours from Denver, and my dad lived about 6 hours away from Denver. So 14 hours of planes (always one layover) followed by at least 4 hours of driving...not ideal. But it saves a couple hundred dollars per person not to fly to some rural airport in Wyoming. I can't imagine North Dakota would be much different, so no....definitely not worth it.

Sorry for the overload of likes. So much fun to see and read your adventures. Julia and Hope are growing up so fast! I'm so glad to read that the Ipod is working for the omnimover rides. That MNSSHP looked amazing! I'm looking forward to the Crocs sequel! :p

Oh good - at least I know it wasn't just us who disliked the Fairways!

Breakfast was ok – but not great. We do this breakfast for the princesses and not the food.

Hope feasted on fruit again. There is a croissant on her plate, but she did not eat it.

Unfortunately, the royal ladies seemed very rushed this morning. My phone did not take great pictures. I think it was the bright sun was glaring towards us. Oh well…

After breakfast we rode Frozen. Hope wanted to wear her rain jacket, but I had forgotten to take it. There was no rain in the forecast so I left our ponchos and her rain jacket at the room. I did however have a t-shirt in case she wanted to change later in the day, so I told her she cold wear her "princess rain t-shirt"! lol She seemed okay with it - I really didn't give her a chance to argue. I put in on her over her dress and off we went to Arendale!

WHAT A FUN MORNING!:geek: I noticed when we ate at CRT the Princesses seemed rushed and not so interested in having a conversation, albeit even a short one. I understand this is a "job" to them, but it's exciting for guests and it would mean a lot if they could show some genuine interest. I've had some great princess interactions, though. :joyfull::joyfull: I'm glad Hope did, too at Arendale!

I love the Frozen meet and greet pics. The girls both look so happy in them. :)

I have wanted to try Art Smith’s for awhile now. I have it booked for our trip in 3 1/2 weeks, but on the day we leave. B is not so into doing it because he knows I have to go by the outlet for Disney outlet and Yankee Candle before we head home- hopefully I can hit that first though because that chicken looks soooo good! 😍

Sounds like you'll be there about the same time I'm going.. what date are you going to Art's?
