Anyhoo, so, the hints point to a yellow-chef-themed character, who, I just learned from this thread is a dog (Duffy already has a rabbit friend)... So, I'm going to guess.. Barcaroni!

Japan has a long history with the Kawaii culture. Which explains why Duffy is huge over there.
My guess is a turtle as well, as an Aulani exclusive. Would fit the Hawaii theme.
