Take a look at this picture....

With Soaring literally Soarin' Over Canada (he, he... I betcha that's what the Florida version of the film will finally be... j/k), Canda now looks, well, improperly themed and ugly. So to fix this problemo, Disney should invest in a mountain behind Canada. I don't care if its just a mountain fascade, or an actual ride that loops down the mountin... albeit the later would be much cooler... so if Disney is willing to fork over a little extra cash they can have twice the value for their money... a much-need mountain fascade over Canada to hide the aluminum barn planted behind it!

So the whole rumored water rapids ride down a Canadian mountain backdrop not only makes for one aweome rumor but also makes aware the NECESSITY to hide the Soaring aluminum hanger looming behind Canada! Disney management has also been aware of the dire need to add rides to World Showcase. Building a Canadian Mountain ride would address that problem too!

So if Imagineering isn't on top of this alreadty, then geez, they're REALLY SLACKING!!!!!!!

I agree now Canada looks out of place! I don't know what they were thinking. I guess they will do what Disney does best and put a wall around it till they figure it out (ha! ha!). A ride sounds great now that they have destroyed my daughters favorite Food Rocks!

Imaginnering works within the BUDGET they are given. It is not a matter of slacking. Believe me, those guys/gals do the best jobs they can within the alloted time frame and $$$ they are given. Don't kill the creative types, when the go ahead is given by management.

That is a very old picture, there. The building, as it now looks, blends in with the sky very well and there is only one point within Epcot where you get a view like that--over by Germany/Italy. It's not a big deal...

I think they are still looking at the Rhine River ride over in Germany? If that gets green lighted then I don't see a river rapids ride in Canada???? Or perhaps I just misread somewhere... :hammer:

Exactly. It's not like you get that view *from* Canada. I think it's fine...but would not object to a 'grizzly peak' type water ride at some future point.

yes it looks way better then that photo shows...and really when you are there looking around it blends in nice. I like to think the only reason I saw it was because I was looking for it

but if they build a mounatin ride behind Canada you will be able to see clearly alot of backstage Epcot. And when on the ride you will still see Soarin, which would kinda defeat the purpose. Unless the whole ride is inside this could be a problem

the "Rhine River" attraction was actually eventually reworked in concept into the Malestrom, which stars trolls instead of elves, dragons, Nibelungen or whatever. If you eat in Germany you can see, in the eatery in the hall outside the Biergarden, a huge arch that's been walled in and covered with a mural. that was supposed to be the attraction entrance, and apparently there is a large vacant aea behind that currently used for storage and probably part of the Biergarden's kitchen.

Disney will find a way to do it. on Test Track you see a lot of backstage Epcot too, remember. =) and you'd be surprised how much of Backstage MK they don't let you see on Splash Mountain via a few very tall trees and a bit of fake rockwork...

It actually doesn't look that bad at all. It's all covered now and it does blend in with the sky at times. And plus, you can see almost all of Future World's buildings from different angles around World Showcase, so I don't really see what's the big deal. However, a new ride would be nice, World Showcase needs more of those...

I am glad that it doesn't look as bad as the photo. I thought I was going to be very suprised when I arrived in September to see this huge building towering over Canada. You are right that the imagineers can only do so much. That wasn't the they I was referring to (mostly Eisner and his groupies) for ruining a beautiful quiet country. Thanks for the new update about the photo.
